What does this mean?

I know a Critical Failure is when a Box Blows, which is 5 less than the Trap's Disable Device DC.

At what point numerically higher than the Disable DC of a trap does this "Critical Success" occur?

Was doing Sins of Attrition Elite with some guildies today, saw it a few times, was wondering what was up.

A Critical Success requires getting well above the required Disable Device roll. It has the benefit of adding the word "Critical" to the result on your screen.

In addition, Magefire Cannon traps inside the Cannith Manufactury will be charmed to your team on a Critical Success.

Thanks :P No idea what the actual number is, though?

Take that to mean no one knows?

No sure about the numbers, may be something between 10 and 15 above the trap DC, had a critical succes on a 20+61 on one of the first fire trap in Eclaw, and critical successes on 1+61 in normal VoD.
Next normal VoD i may try to experiment taking my trap gear off to see the difference.

Tested for a couple of hours on the sonic trap near the entrance of In The Demon's Den on elite.
First i tried to determine the DC of the trap taking off all my gear and then run after run re-equipping it, i got:
47 critical fail
51 fail
53 success
So the trap DC is 52 or 53 (since the critical fail happens only if the check is 5 or more points lower then the DC)
Then i equipped all the gear and tried using boosts and GH and got:
70 success
75 critical success
76 critical success
I kept repeating and repeating but couldn't get a roll between 70 and 75 so in conclusion the widest interval for the benchmark of critical success that i could get is between 19 (71-52) and 23 (75-52) points above the trap DC.

Special thanks to Xlorth of Ghallanda that made me reset the instance something like 25 times with his public instance resetting service.

PS: the Jarilith Raiders either have Scent or are bugged since they always detected me few steps after zoning in with 66 hide/ms so i had to kill them everytime, boring.

Not really sure, but I love seeing "(Combat): You make a Disable Device skill check. You roll a 1 (+64): critical success!"

But what is the benefit of "critical succes"? More trap parts scavenged?

Just now read this, thanks to the forums having been down an all. +1 to you for the outstanding research. For now, let's safely assume that the DC+20 or so is Critical Success?

I'm inclined to think so: 19, 21, 22 and 23 sound like weird numbers, but you never know.
If i have time i can try to jump in and see if i can get something between 70 and 75 ... but not in the near future i have had enough of killing those drunken fear inducing lions.

I think it is malarky a crit fail/success should be equidistant from fail and success thresholds.

but good researching Delsoboss.

Can someone tell me what does "critical success" actually get you?
