Havn't seen this discussed anywhere so here goes :

When bringing the dummy on the airship down , Iv'e noticed that when my pet gets the last hit in, he gets the buff.

But I also get the buff but have no icon showing I got the last hit in.

You can tell the 2nd time taking the dummy down for yourself that indeed your damage #'s are getting the dummy bonus ..... so there is no need to finish the dummy for yourself.

Once your pet has it, you have it.

There is no damage bonus from the dummy, it's a to-hit bonus. That extra damage is due to the dummy coming back as "helpless" after it's knocked down the first time.

was weird to see higher numbers after pet took it down seemed like the attack dummy was giving a damage bonus hehe

And that finally explains the wide variation in numbers I was getting - sometimes i would average around 30 per shot and others in the low 40s.....it was never consistent so I never figured it out. I was sure it wasn't the RNG being that weird but I didn't connect the dots to the 'helpless' state.
