Turbine I have been playing this game since the cap was level 10. I have witnessed updates come and go and have always enjoyed myself questing be it in pug or with friends. I have many toons capped and most have many of the finest in epic gear. I have played loyally for about 4-5 hours every day during the week days the past 3 years.
I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the men & women who design this game and implement the changes in the updates must not really play the game on a regular basis. A lot of the stuff that is implemented into the recent updates has made the game somewhat better but some of the stuff your company does just leaves me confused. I wonder why stuff gets released not finished, broken or not even fully Q.A. tested and why things that have been broken for years never get fixed. I ask myself why Turbine would take a great group co-op MMO that stressed teamwork and growing gameplay and just trash it!
My home world is G-land and the epic raiding is almost down by 75% if not more and I have had a few of my friends quit the game because your company has sucked the fun right out of most of the higher end / Epic questing.
Now I’m sure I will be negatively repped and ridiculed by some Turbine fan boys & girls for posting this but never the less I too play & love this game and have the same right to voice my concerns and displeasure with the latest raid fiasco the was put into effect U11.
Turbine sometimes I wonder if I gave you a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jelly that you would mess up making a PBJ (peanut butter & jelly sandwich) by trying to add Mayo.
P. S. Sometimes more is not better

Mayo is available in the store, but the favor unlock isn't available until U13.

Can you flag a certain change or update you are not pleased with and offer a solution.
For example:
Problem: The New UI Interface made it too hard to click on a character who is about to die when I am playing a healer.
Suggested Solution: Make the red health portion of health bar taller to include the space currently used for the character names and put the character names inside this red portion.
Bonus: This also fixes the problem of character names getting lost to view if the back drop of the quest is the same color of the character names.
Two birds with one stone win / win.
Criticism is only actionable if you are specific and show a way that you feel the problem will be solved.

I don't like mayo. My ex's father used to make peanut butter and mayo sandwiches though. I shudder to think about it.
Wait, this wasn't really about mayo, was it?

That's only half correct. You do not have to have the answer to demonstrate something could be done better. From your example, simply stating that the health bars are hard to see which makes healing difficult is all that need be said. If the developer agrees, they are capable of finding a solution. In fact, often times a proposed solution will only cloud the issue. From your example, I think that placing the player names in the health bar would only further obscure it and make it even more difficult to judge how much health a player has.
Now the discussion has shifted and we appear to be in disagreement even though we both agree the health bars are difficult to interpret. Getting the developer to acknowledge there is a problem that needs to be addressed is 99% of the solution. Having a united front of people in agreement that there is a problem is the most important step. If the developer opts to make a change, it doesn't really matter how or why they made it more readable, just being more readable means everybody wins.

I mean really its called epic for a reason. It is about time they made it so. Epic is like fighting the Lords of Dust and going toe to toe with the gods. If only 5% of the people can play it and less succeed then its being done correct.
Not just anybody should be able to achieve epic level.

Normally I'm all for calling out on how Turbine is doing, but there is one other option you haven't considered. Turbine is not their own company. They are owned by another. Thus this could be the parent company's decision with Turbine being unable to do anything. If so, they are neither ignorant nor apathetic.

Certainly not that I've seen. Increased completion time, unchanged droprates (that scaled poorly with difficulty to begin with) -> less incentive to run hard/elite.
As for actionable criticism: increase in difficulty should come with an increase in droprate. I absolutely support increasing the difficulty on older Raids, but only if it has the effect of reducing grind. All they did was make lousy grinds even worse.

I think it's best to point out the problems and some possible solutions for a fix, but often what players don't know is the actual mechanics/programming that dictates why something might work the way it does.
For example:
The dome light in my car wasn't working. When I took it in for an oil change, I asked them to replace the bulb. No problem.
After picking up my car, I noticed the light still didn't work. I went in and told the technician the light wasn't working.
He agreed the light wasn't working... because the fuse was blown out.
I specifically asked to have the lightbulb changed. So that's what they did.
That is how programmers think. If you give them a specific objective, that's what they do. The key is to state the problem VERY CLEARLY and ask for it to be fixed.
Players know what they want, but they don't always know the implications of the specific mechanic they are asking for. Will it cause more lag? Will it break something else? Will it take 10 times as long and cost more than doing 20 other fixes?
The OP is pretty clearly upset with recent changes, but without specifics it's just blowing off steam. Tell us what's got you upset.

It is said that Mayonaisse was invented in Mahón, a city in the beautiful spanish island form Minorca, that at that time was under british rule.
So, if I read you right, you are supporting the British Empire?

Whats killing fun for me right now:
-Wipes because of lag (due to stop motion, disconnect of critical players, spells going to nowhere) - imo this is getting worse since U11
-Turbines business model. Sell everything in the store and the game is broken. You got to realize this Turbine.
-Vip downgrade. You serious?
-Like OP said - Bug fixing? "Nah, we need more content." You guys can´t even fix tooltips? lmao
Thing is: Sure u gotta make money but this looks like a cash cow to me atm.
So please hire more Q&A/Programmers and get better Hardware. Even your Website is a slow poke.
-myDDO is a nice idea - but why publish a project which is in alpha since uhm idk? forever?
You want to be a serious company then please start behaving and dont fool your customers. Every love comes to an end someday but imo you pushing it.
Cheers

There are really two extremes of programmers. The first kind is the kind I like to think I fit into. The kind that tries to figure out the true cause of the problem and fix it at the source.
Then there is the other kind that is only in the field because they thought it offered more pay than another field. I've run into this kind a good number of times. They lack the drive to be anything more than a code monkey and attempt to do as little as possible.

I will completely agree with your statement if you are willing to run all the epics sans epic gear. There is where the problem comes in. All the twinked players are bored. All the new players are screwed.

I agree, but the fact is that Epics weren't like that for the past year, so anyone new to running Epics won't have the easilly attained Epic gear that all of those who ran the "easy" Epics have.
I'm all for having Epic end game, but why not create new content for this? Start everyone out on the same foot rather then giving some people a year long head start.
Just my 2 cents

Crystal Cove and two new raids are probably taking everyone's time.
Give it another month or so and see how the epic raiding landscape looks then.

I'm sorry but I LOLd - do you really think that WB told Turbine "Increase the HP and Fortitude on all the bosses and change the group UI in this way!"
I highly doubt that WB even knows these details about the game. They make money decisions, not game design decisions.

Yeah, those are probably not business decisions.
On the other hand, the Artificer release strategy, and putting +3 tomes in the store...

Nope, I can't imagine they said that either. They probably said "Our profit margin is too low on this game, find a way to make more money." Point being it's up to Turbine how they accomplish that and I don't like their decisions...

Exactly. Soo many forum users spew complaints without really saying what they are complaining about nor what idea they have in mind to fix it. And many, many timesit has been told to us to be specific.
That's only half correct. You do not have to have the answer to demonstrate something could be done better. You do however need to specify what you do not like. Just saying you don't like the game because of changes in u11 does not nail down what specific change is bugging you. Even if you copy/paste the rel notes, it is better than saying you don't like u11 changes.
I mean really its called epic for a reason. It is about time they made it so. Epic is like fighting the Lords of Dust and going toe to toe with the gods. If only 5% of the people can play it and less succeed then its being done correct.
Not just anybody should be able to achieve epic level.
The problem with this is saying that epics should be either max'd out specific stats+top gear+perfect enhancements to succeed in epics. Which really shouldn't be the truth. Epic Raids maybe, but epic quests, no. A balance, if they are not going to add more levels to the players, would be to have epic quests be actionable by a non geared, non-max'd out group of players who are level 20. Because they are quests. They are like the teaser of epics. Whereas raids are the pinnacle of challenge. So you should have to work your way up to get raids completable on epic.
But this would call into question the entire epic system of rewards, gear, etc. Because when do you give epic items? Most require some raiding to be done. If you can't raid without top gear, then you can't get the stuff for raiding because you can't contribute to completion, etc, etc, fail to the max.
In the end, I think their system is ok for the most part. I really want to see the challenge system that was talked about, and see exactly how turbine plans to let the game ride beyond 2016.
That's true for free players.

Whether it's WB making specific demands, or WB demanding more profit which induces Turbine to make those specific decisions, is kind of irrelevant. Either way, it's the game being adversely affected by the WB buy-out.
On the other hand, I don't really think the UI or Hard/Elite difficulties had anything to do with pressure from WB.

Nah.
What i should do is just do advice that something isn't working, not to betatest the thing that's not working.
I'm not paid to betatest, i pay to play and i just wanna play.
If i have to betatest things then let me play for free what i have to betatest.
