View Full Version : Best CC hat combos?

While I'm saving dragonshards to get some nice epic gear and the ML4 trinkets, I'm also thinking about stashing away some of the cool hats. But I don't have much experience with classes other than cleric.
What would be good combos to sock away for future characters? +6 Int and +15 Conc for a wizard? +6 Wis and +15 Conc for a cleric or monk? Heavy fortification and +15 balance or intimidate?
Interested to hear what people use. Thanks. :)

The hats are bound to character, so theyre only good if you use them at endgame or for TR... I dont like to take +6 stats since thats easily slotted elsewhere, ToD stuff, Con-Op, epic slots... better chose stuff thats not easily available on non-weapon slots like seeker and potency VI.
Anyway, what I made for some of my chars:
Cleric:
heavy fort/balance
sup potency VI/balance
TWF Khopesh Bard:
seeker 6/perform

and if you aren't already rolling in plat, I find a +haggle/+charisma is a great investment. I carry one on most of my characters as a swap out when selling and increase the stats as they level and the next cove event runs.

Ah, didn't realize these were already BTC. Fortunately I do plan to TR heavily. :)
I have a Sup Potency VI hat already and it has been helpful *in* the cove. :) But I took it with Concentration.. maybe a waste since now I use Quicken, but maybe on easier content it can save me some SP.

Well, I looked at the bonuses available and none of them really seemed all that appealing at first except ML 9 superior false life and seeker +6.
However, in the end I made a ML 12 +6 cha +15 haggle item, and a ML 9 superior false life +10 balance item.
The problem with those hats is that they have to compete with the Minos Legens, which is ML 11 and gives stuff at that level that is hard to find elsewhere.
So imo it's best to either get a hat that will be situationally useful but you won't need to wear all the time, or a lower ML one.
Of course if you don't have Minos Legens, then you can go wild on the hat.
DDO store hats should still be BTA.
I only use the hat in the Cove, so I slot Heavy Fort to replace Minos.

i take balance on most of mine.
sneak attack +5 lets me drop tharnes for a +4 attack bonus goggle for my melee that can afford to drop toughness.
Sup Potency VI for my sorc / fvs
Superior false life for the bard / wiz

Sneak Attack +5 and Bluff +15 is a nice one for rogues. Though you will want to come up with some other slot for your heavy fort. ML:12. If you plan on getting Tharne's Goggles quickly (Yeah, right.) Seeker +6 and Bluff +15 (ML:15) works too.
Sneak Attack +5 and Concentration +15 can work for a monk. Since, seeker isn’t that great for a handwrap using monk anymore it will open up other options for your goggles.
Natural Armor +5 and Intimidate +15 is a nice combo for any intimitanks you have in mind. (Also ML:12)
Heavy Fortification, by itself, is only level 9 and, in my experience, is a lot easier to fit into a level 9 TR than the nightforge gorget.

Superior false life only level 9 great for low hp toons.
Heavy Fortification only level 9 great for all.
I have these 2 on DDO Store hats so can pass them around for TRs using shared bank.

Concentration is not a waste if you might ever use scrolls in combat.
And SupPot6 on a hat is awesome. Leaves hands free for all sorts of nice toys, and neck free for Torc.

As soon as I saw that I immediately spent my first dragonshards on it. Some folks pointed out I could get it on a dagger, but I don't want to wield a dagger! (I'm one of those ewwy battle clerics.)

My bard: Haggle +15
My ranger: Seeker +6
My sorc/paladin: Superior False Life
First two are used situationally; last one is more or less permanent. No Minos Legens for this toon.

Even on an offensive caster Cleric, you might want to be holding nice things like the Staff of the Petitioner, or the Epic Staff of Inner Sight, or dual-weilding Death's Touch and a Green Blade, or whatever. It's good to have options.
But, yes, it's perfect for a melee Cleric if you have a Torc. If you don't, the Amrath Bard necklaces are a good option, too.

I havent mad a hat since the last Cove event, but arent the hats all the same in terms of their upgrade capacity?
I know they look different and some have higher dobloon dropping boosts, but after the cove is over is there any reason to buy a tricorn over the cap?
superior potency VI, concentration +15
with this combination you can run with a shield and a conc-opp stick :)
Backstabbing +5, concentration +15
Poor man tharne's goggles. Having one of those on your melee will save you the trouble of running vod over and over. And it frees your goggles slot for those attack bonus +2 goggles of persuasion with a large guild augment slot that you want to wear :)

Seeker/Superior False Life are 2 rare effects that are worth putting on hats in combination with any relevant skill. Balance is something most can't fit in and most other skill items can be hot-swapped, so Balance is a solid choice.
I made both.
