I'm disgusted now. I pay Turbine to play DDO and "enjoy" my VIP access but U11 has gone too far. It's not about the epic bosses being harder to kill as a single complaint as there are several disgusting problems. For many months I have enjoyed playing DDO and enjoy questing with other players and meeting new people and making new friends. Update 8 was cool with its changes, Update 9 introduced even further changes and we changed the way we played the game to accomodate those changes. Update 10 saw even more progression and was still workable through the inevitable bugs that presented themselves so blatantly. Then comes Update 11... another slap in the face to those of us who have heard for too long that the Druid is coming, yet we find Dragons and Demons and Dungeons and Wizards coupled in with Steam Punk. OK, I can actually deal with all that and we can find our way around some bugs by just not playing the new quests on the difficulty that has bugs (like Yaulthoon's bug in U10 on elite). But to discover that Turbine intentionally made the raid bosses so much harder to kill now... here's the story...
I had many happy days of getting up and getting online and logging in and getting together with my guildies and my friends as we partied up and got on the right toons to go and grind away at our epic raids so we can get our epic loot and the excitement was near unbearable. Daily runs in an epic VoN 6 were followed by epic VoN 1 and/or epic Demon Queen and/or EChrono runs. These quests were difficult enough even with 10 of the players in the raid knowing what was up and what they needed to do to pass the quest and there was a window of opportunity to fail it that was acceptable. Now, before the first person gets up on their soapbox and mentions how maybe there are some players who need better gear in order to pass the raids, let it be known that this was our effort. Going into these quests brand-new with DT armor and not owning a single GS weapon made things interesting enough. We did these quests and raids so we could GET the better gear so we could have an easier time of things in the game and actually have FUN.
Fun is over now. Today marks my fourth attempt at an Epic VoN 6. And it's not all about the fact that Velah has double hit points or 50% more Fortification! It's about how a healer throws a heal and crosses their fingers hoping it will land before the party wipes! It's about how now you have to have LESS DPS in the group just so you can manage going into it without two healers drinking 20 pots each AND you have to take that lower-DPS group in to a stronger raid boss. So we're doing MORE with LESS, or dying trying (which is the case more often than not now). We didn't go in with a bunch of new players who didn't know how to pull bases and a bard who couldn't fascinate or some jerk going in and doing something completely wrong, it just so happens that the healers just can't keep up! The heals don't land all the time. It's a toss-up about whether they'll even go off. Complaints about Quicken not working are too numerous to count. I play a cleric and I know the frustration because I have personally witnessed up to a 6-second delay on a heal landing, the targeted toon dying, and the heal bouncing onto me in the end. So the lag is killing it further. Players aren't wanting to take their toons into these epics and drink 10 pots just to have it all go down in the end because of server lag. It all bundles together to make quite a disturbing dilemma; not very many people are trying to get on their healers to waste their resources on a failure so the raids aren't going on like usual. It's like Turbine hit the FUN-KILL-SWITCH and it worked. It's not fun anymore. But don't stop and FIX it! That would make too much sense.
I'd like to know who the people are that tested these raids and passed it and gave the final OK on it before it went into effect. What gear are they using and where did they get it? Did they get that gear by grinding away at these very raids to GET the gear? Sure they did! But not WITHOUT the gear and earning it in these quests at their current difficulty! That's the point! Turbine, Wizards, DDO, whoever you want to blame is not my concern. I want to see it fixed and I want to see it fixed YESTERDAY. I don't want to have to wait another two months for a fix like we did for ghost touch handwraps (as one example). I hear about "hotfixes" going into effect but what's so "hotfix-ish" about 3-4 hours of downtime? Sounds like a cold boot to me, not a hotfix.
I would rather not read some dev's response to this, to be honest with you. I'd have a better time returning to the game knowing that they were too busy actually fixing it than to respond to my griping about it. The running joke about there "not being any lag" in the game because "they fixed that on the last update" isn't even funny anymore. It's a bad joke akin to sending your entire party to the Restless Isles with a Greater Teleport (or at least threatening to. And if you've never been to the Restless Isles you may want to investigate it before you take that GT. See? That one can still be funny, lol).
How about we buck up and get our stuff in gear before releasing some shoddy work like U11 is? This isn't burning the candle at both ends... it's throwing the candlestick in the furnace! So many new things to keep up with like Cannith Crafting and Artificers (which I still refuse to pay for as I'll earn it with favor if I continue to play DDO) and House Cannith quests and 2 new raids and updated gear from the Sands and House P and so many other changes to keep up with are really taking its toll on US, the players. I've heard more frustration in the last 2 weeks than in the entire 2 months prior to U11.
If a car company put out a new automobile with problems like DDO has right now we'd see it all over the news and people would be burning the stupid cars in effigy as the company dwindled into nothing and collapsed (see Yugo). We'd have Facebook movements and copy-and-paste status updates about it from 8 out of 10 friends (or 4 out of 5 before the last FB update)... get it?
I didn't rage quit after today's VoN 6 failure, I just logged off in absolute DISGUST and it's been 4 hours since where I've collected my thoughts and I'm sure I've missed something somewhere. And I'm sure there will be someone who will reply to this post with something to the effect of "you just don't know how to play" or "your toon must be gimped" or "you must have had a bad party". None of these things are true. We had a top-notch party with top-notch leaders who easily have hundreds of completions of this particular quest under their belts and it just wasn't happening. It was just sad. Doubling the difficulty is one thing; coupling that with server lag and heals not landing at all or bouncing back from 10 feet away with no blockage is just idiotic. Something is wrong and IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

Begin reading post {roll vs wall-o-text: 18 you save} you can tell the OP is very angry about something.

Continue reading post {roll vs wall-o-text: 20 you save} you can tell the OP is angry because the current changes made epics too difficult for some people.

Continue reading post {roll vs wall-o-text: 3 you fail} you are blinded for 1d10 minutes, take a -15 to reading comprehension, and are unable to continue reading.

once again, another unhappy customer. i dont blame the op because i agree. raiding isnt what it used to be. i would do echrono daily, edq 2 and evon 6 every 3 days. now im lucky to first, see 1 up, second, get a completion. its been said so many times what the problems are, its just redundant now and turbine knows what they are. im just hoping something gets figured out soon...

I'm all for new challenges and new things, but when it's the basic mechanics of the game that aren't working properly, THAT needs to be fixed/overhauled before content changes.

I understand that Turbine feels it needs to release new content as often as possible to stay competitive with other games, and (as shown by responses in this very post!) gamers tend to have the attention span of mayflies, but PLEASE make sure the stuff works before it goes live. Being unable to complete missions because of programming and server problems is going to drive FAR more players away than not having a new class.

You have an ARMY of volunteer playtesters at your disposal. Use it!

There are ways other than luck to see an LFM for a quest that you want. In fact, I know a method you can use that guarantees there will be an LFM available for any quest that you want!

I think that lately Turbine has placed a large amount of their efforts into rebalancing at each update. While I do agree that nerfs and upgrades are needed over time, I'd prefer to see a bit more stability in the game. Constant changes just keep the game in a constant state of flux. When it takes you multiple months or even years to perfect your character, having the rules of the game change 3 or 4 times a year is quite disruptive.

I like the rate of updates currently but I'd like to see the majority of them focus on bug fixes and pure content. New abilities, spells, PRE's, quests and items. Save the nerfs, buffs and power level adjustments for one update per year unless there is a massive exploit that needs to be addressed. Exploits obviously should be addressed ASAP. That's my opinion on that. A bit of guaranteed stability, even if it's just for a year at a time would be a huge relief for me to know that my builds would be safe for at least that long.

I agree with you. And yes, i'm not lazy and i did read all the post. It could help to read it if you would put it in small parts, with a line between ideas.

Turbine just did screw up the game (most of it). All the changes seems to be made by monkeys in a spacecraft (if you have seen the simpsons, the phone management from the satellite, you know what i mean). And, not happy with this, everything is bugged and the game is lagging more than ever. Yesterday we had such a lag that we couldn't complete epic snitch, we got frozen for over 5 minutes while some rats beat the **** out of us.

This has to change, Turbine.

Think he's mad bosses have more hp and fort and blah blah blah.

dont be mad, just take comfort in the fact that turbine has gone the way of every other mmo and made raiding its focus. melee combat isnt even fun anymore. you have to be inside the monsters shorts to even connect. probably should just use auto attack.

I loved ddo because of the combat, now not at all. its dumb, slow, and "lag free" (snicker).

Take comfort in the left brainers who deemed that its still mathematecally fun and engaging, and that you are just a noob who doesnt "get it".

either love it or leave it baby.

Yeah i agree, at least partly.
I think that people are angry because its first update after something is more difficult. But its great. I mean... all updates gave some great items, some great abilities or some new great quests with great items :D gaqme was becoming easier and easier.
People get attached to this... to this luxury and now they complain.
Yesterday i was on first echrono that didnt fail (even thought all 4 tanks died once and was without buffs). People learned new ways to do it, and its great.
I admit, i was a little angry at beggining, im a fvs, im healer in epic content. It was decision to take...

If ure with guildes theres not problem, they see if there is sense of continuing fighting boss or nort. But when ure with not familiar people? U see u dont have mana,m u see other healers do not too, and boss have half life. And there is a question - stop healing and make people mad, or just tell them it doesnt have any sense, quit, and land on black list? I can drink even 10 mnemonics when i see there is a chance do end it. With guildies even more if i have.
On this yestarday chrono i didnt drank any. But i know one healer did drank some.

But, i agree with lags thing...
I was on 4 evons6 after u11. On 2 of them there was so big lag at fire that 6-7 people died at once. U know... someone have to heal people staying by dragon, someone have to clear trash, so others do not die, and there i am left i have something like 2 mins to res all people.
so quicken on: res+heal+fire res+mass dw/protection
(its not like one person will wait for mass dw to res others... someone have to hit dragons, and 1-2 people who are doing it now have some problems, so...)
and again res+heal+fire+ ass dw/protection

And after 7 times uff.... raid is goo,d people alive, maybe we will end this. So what i almost dont have mana, right?
Then someone scream "fire" i ran, but... what? Why am i running in one place? Did i got DC? Others are running in one place too.
Fire went though us. Oh, okey, were alive.
Ding
Ding
Ding
Ding
Ding
Ding
Oh... key were not. And all this quickened ressing thing from beggining.
I mean, seriuosly. Me and other healer drank for somethink like 13-15 mnemonic big pots on this one. Good we were with guildies that shared with their mnemonics after.

But come on. That was horrible!

Im glads about increased difficulty, but lags, especially i evon6 are just pure evil.

If you want to experience the raids, try a difficulty setting below epic.

Epic is not designed for the most casual players. The fact that it was so easy pre-U11 was pretty clearly a mistake. Epic Velah was easier than Normal Arraetrikos, and the Epic Cojoined Abashai Devastator did so little damage that bards solohealed it.

Not saying the changes are perfect, but we have gone from casual players having 4 difficulty settings to choose from for most raids and more min-max players having none, to now having 2-3 settings for casual players on most raids and 1-2 settings for more min-max players.

Oh and epic VON6 is being consistently beaten by PUGs at the moment with minimal or no mana potion usage.

I thinks it's awesome that the dude is so peeved he just blurted out a wall of text like that. I mean, you don't construct something like that unless you are a man possessed on the keyboard.

Turbine should take note of the wall height and thickness and heed their 2012 development strategy. 2011 was about supposedly fixing things (spells, abilities, raid challenge) and bringing us crafting (zzz....). Make 2012 about fun please.
And for Coyle's sake make sure you get druid rolled out. That will shut up half the people.

Reality I have no problem beating the epic raids either, but must of use are gear to the teeth and have all the epics in the raids we are running. Should raids be made for the ones that have the stuff? The reality I careless if they every change old raids p.

If we want to go fix every stupid problem in this game we would be here forever, there quest that give 5k xp on no(1 to 2) chest that take forever to complete. Though other quest 6 to 10 min. that give you 20k xp. That xp system in this game makes no freaking sense. Though you will jump on here defending changing the raids that don't matter anymore to those that done them over 200+ times.. Have u done a elite shroud, sure with highly gear toons easy. Though why in the world does my highly gear toon need shroud?

Last I had it with this game, there is no balance there never will be balance. They don't care about balance.

Though lets get to real issue with Turbine, they dont care about there custmors.. They will not fix the lag, they just use nerfs to justfy slowing people xping down. Why do you ask they need to slow xping down. Simple the slower you go the more xp pots you can buy. Ask again what was the real reason they added dungeon alert? Hmm quest would been way faster if did not have to deal with all the mobs. They could have easly went with rubber banding mobs. They said content would not be made to sale there store items. THough to me content is just made to up there sales. Yes they have other ways to get stuff for all the Turbine defenders out there, but reality is if make little harder and longer grind what will people do? Must of use do have jobs.

Should everyone live on the game to get anywere? Though the quick fix just open the store function up. They seen the money being made by there store and now they have sold out to it.

Well, it seems that when there's an easy target (like a held troll in VoN 1) there are just those people out there who will go after it while the one troll that the mass hold missed pounds on the healer, unhindered.

The complaints about the "wall of text" began less than a minute after it was posted, thereby revealing how shallow these particular forum junkies are. Next time I'll consider including pictures my kids drew so it's not so hard on the brain.

Here's a hint: I'm still disgusted and some of you missed the point entirely. You couldn't see the forest for the tree in your face. If you don't like it, move on. The original post was a bit of a blurt and it was intended to be such. I care less about the presentation than I do about the content but if you can't read it you could have saved yourself the embarrassment of letting everyone know that you weren't up to the task by not wasting time posting the inane responses, Captains Obvious and You-Don't-Say.

However, after reading the responses thus-far I must say that I was correct in my presumption that there would be someone, somewhere, who would say they could do the epic with 11 PUGs, naked, throwing Lumps of Coal at Velah and the 6 Cleric/8 Rogue/6 Bard could solo heal it with a Wand of Cure Minor Wounds and still get the Sword of Shadow (it was just so plainly obvious that it would happen that I quite looked forward to it like I look forward to my next PTA meeting). There's always a one-upper that is so uber that everyone else is just wasting his time. No worries because some of us know that the reason you're doing it with PUGs in the first place is because you play it repeatedly with all your friends because they want to play it with you again since it went so well last time ;)

The fact still stands. The game is screwed and there seems to be no fix in sight. It's less fun now. Period.

P.S. for the intellectually impaired I will now take the time to put a few edits in place to make it easier for you to read.

P.S.S. wait a second, no I won't. Let it continue to separate the big boys from the little ones

(Combat): Your +7 Wall of Text hits Confounded Duh-fenders, they suffer -24 INT penalty. Success!

Hail, A Wall Of Text

Don't know why, but I laughed so hard I started coughing. This and the rolled a one...

I literally, saw the wall and decided not to read, but the next couple posts brought a smile anyway.

To everyone that responded with the childish response of wall of text, did you even read the post? It is a shame that Turbine doesn't have a rule against padding post counts. That is all those responses are/were.

@sirgog
This is too you and all the complainers in this thread... did you even read the post?

The OP mentioned that they enjoy the new changes and the challenge involved. The OP just hates that the latency/lag that has been present since U9 is making the changes painful. When heals are behaving like they used to in shroud pre-U5 things are wrong.

@everyone

yes we know you machines are so face meltingly awesome and everyone that experiences lag has an old commodore 64 on dial up and we all need to upgrade...

Issues that I am seeing in relation to this

eVon6: Djinns and bases are fine, Velah gets really laggy
eZR: Most of this fight is fine, however when she enters beserk mode at < 20% health the instance grinds to a halt
ToD: shadow kiting has always been laggy, sometimes your lucky and sometimes you get treated to the shadow gang rape
VoD: Most of this fight is clear, but towards the end (say < 40% health) the constant spawning of entities in there seems to cripple the instance
Cannith Manufactory: This was an utter joke. 12 man raid enters, laggy as hell. We kill everything and are standing at the LoB entrance, lag hits, get to move 5 mins later. Walk down an empty hall to shrine, 5 mins later we get there. 5 mins after that shrines have finally registered we are trying to use them. 5 mins later we all shrine, 5 mins later back to LoB entrance.

I am starting to see what I refer to as the 'Subterrane lag' in all major raids. When I can enter an instance with 11 other people and no one is lagging before hand (fresh client restarts all around) and the instance come to a halt, as painfully as an 18 wheeler hitting a brick wall, there is something wrong. This is also all 12 people from varies areas of the globe complaining of the same symptoms and at the same time: unable to move, not able to attack, hot bars not triggering (via click or key press), no heals landing, damamge numbers not displaying. Then when the issue passes all 12 people report the same thing: mobs have shot away, massive amounts of damage numbers rolling by, every spell landing in a very short amount of time.

There have been a few situations that it was just one person, that person restarts/does what needs to be done, eliminates lag and it is all good.

If any other game would appear in this state there would be an outcry, but we D&D players like to protect our electronic D&D outlet so we deal with what we have. We deal with the bugs and all the ridiculous lag to play the best MMO on the market today. I do hope however, that we see a response the data traffic issue that has been plaguing the game since at least U9 (if not longer).

Pug raids are vanishing fast for the harder stuff.
And forget all about non-guild runs for any of the harder epics.

If you're not in one of the big guilds. You might as well forget about epic raids and many epic quests.

Turbine should pull their **** together here... There's alot of game competition comming out. And a broken ddo that excludes people from stuff is gonna cost them more players than normal.

not really noticed any problems after a couple of weeks on thelanis, im running eDQ2 eChrono and eVoN6 every 3 days (from the lfm pannel) as an average at best healer in that time ive failed just once (a eDQ2) which we reformed and completed fairly easily. im averaging maybe a pot a run something i would find acceptable even if that pot wasnt due to poor sp management. sure for a little while after U11 hit i was joining these and being battered badly but after people adjusted they seem pretty reasonable now
