Just my two cents on this matter...
I often post LFM's that read, "Fast - favor only. No XP. All welcome. IP"
That means I am doing a specific quest for favor (which means I am doing it on elite, but I still hit the radio button for elite so you can see that if you look at my LFM), there will be no XP awarded (or possibly a very small amount), and anyone who wants to come along for the free favor is welcome to join.
It does not mean I am waiting for someone to join before I start. That's what the "IP" means; "In Progress". So, if you join, please don't start complaining that I didn't wait for you. It doesn't matter. There is no XP anyway, so an XP penalty is irrelevant. The "fast" part means I'm just blowing through the quest as rapidly as I can, which probably means I'm leaving unfought mobs behind me. If you don't like that, pike at the entrance. I'm not expecting your help and I don't care if five pikers join.
It also means I'm not doing any optionals. If you want to do optionals, go ahead, but I'm probably not going to join you. If you do try the optionals, you're on your own. I'm not going to come to your rescue if you get into trouble. If you die and I complete the quest, you will still get your favor. Feel free to ask me (if you like) if I am going to come get you if you die, but when I tell you I'm not please clam up and wait for your free favor.
This was just something I had to get off my chest after my level 12 wizard was running Irestone Islet for favor and a level two fighter joined. First he started complaining that I had started without waiting for him. I explained to him on voice what a fast favor run was and he indignantly said, "I know!" I even suggested to him that he just wait at the entrance but he didn't want to do that. He didn't even head in my direction but took off on his own and was killed in seconds. Then the whining and moaning started... "Why can't you come get me? I want to loot the chests after you kill everything. This sucks! Why won't you come get my stone? I'm a huge baby and I take no responsibility for my own stupid behavior!"
(Okay, he didn't really say that last sentence, but if he had it would have been accurate.)
