View Full Version : am i missing something? twf wf ac

hey guys going to tr my character down the road and wondering if i am missing something while trying to get a decent usable ac as i level him... im gonna post the things ive come up with if something is out of place please feel free to chime in

these are the following ac bonuses i can come up with

10 base
1 dodge feat
1 alchemical dodge
2 tempest 1 shield bonus
3 chattering ring dodge
7 composite plating with +5 docent
2 reinforced plating from DT docent
1 two monk levels
5 wisdom bonus from monk splash
7 dexterity
2 chaosgarde/thaarak bracelet dodge
5 natural armor from cc hat or ranger barkskin (eventually from PL feat?)
5 deflection from min2 accessory
4 insight rune on dragontouched docent

55 total

this is the best i can come up with that is reasonable for me to do. i dont think ive missed anything but please if any of you pros see soemthing amiss please let me know

just some more information i am going to be using twf with khopeshes and would like to keep power attack on 24/7 if possible which is why i have not gone for combat expertise... and will tr again once i hit 20 so this is not meant for endgame

also i am trying to list only the buffs i can provide myself that is why i have not listed haste/bard/paladin bonuses, or even airship bonuses (thought i will use them as often as i can)

another thing.. even if these are all spot on and i can hit 55 with what ive listed, is this even a useful score for 16+ questing? with the new bravery bonuses i would like to be as survivable as i can running elite quests for the bonuses but if this is not high enough maybe i should just scrap the whole idea of ac and try something different?

If you are not totally speccing in AC, why even bother.

That ac is not high enough for what you want to run. It may mitigate 10-15% of attacks (instead of 5%) on normal 16+ content, but really not worth it without (lots) more investment.

Edit:
Leveling to 12: no problem, ac can be reached without too much work.
12-16: not so easy to gear for now, but doable for the most part
16+: need to be ac specced, and geared as such, for anything other than normal in most raids. Some quests aren't as bad, but most you need to have fairly high ac (50+ vale quests normal)

hrm man that sucks to hear

i really am only going for ac to help me get to 20 so i can tr again, and will be doing it til i get bored i think (i am having 0 fun with epics) and i thought it could help out a lot

without going with a shield or including exceptional bonuses (that would typically only kick in at 18) is there any way to improve my current scores?

i was also hoping that 55ac at 16 would at least be somewhat useful, its a pain to hear that may not be the case but i do apprecaite your input guys ty

also, does it make a difference if i solo most of the time? (due to scaling)

You'll get stacking 5 more from full ship buffs (2 stat, 3 natural stacking)

You should also be thinking about 4 for the shield bonus, not 2. IE use a shield 5 or 10 wand.

That gets you to 62, which will be plenty for levelling purposes. You won't avoid all damage, but you'll notice enough misses to matter until you hit Amrath.
