Yesterday i join a LoB on normal pug on Khyber.

Party was pretty decent, some well-know names, leader was calm and helpfully, so i though was a solid base. Never did before the raid, so i was a bit scared about mess it.

We did 2 tries. First was just a 1 minute try to check the fight, positions, pull etc. The second one, took us about 20/25 minutes.

I was asked to tank (fight20, 740 hp) and i found it pretty hard to do. The bigger problem for me, was to choose between beat him to gain aggro or shield block to avoid the stun. Theres no animation/warning (at least i have not found any) when he will stun you (and i don't think it have a save, i got +45 fort i always found me stun) but i need to keep swing to build the aggro. So basically i found myself always stun when he was doing the big smash combo (which always do after the stun).

Also, after he jumps, seems that he reset the aggro, and its a pain for a melee to catch him again (hes fast and can end on the other side of the platform).

We wiped at 10% or so, healers (we got 3) used about 25 pots each. I ended to feel really bad for them, for that amount of resources used.

Anyone have an advice for a melee-nocaster tank to tank LoB?

I've only done two runs so far. The first was similar to your expierience. It was a chugfest for the healers with a lot of headless chickens running around who didn't really know what to do. We did complete but it was rough.

Did another one this morning and it was much better (Also on Khyber btw). All the people in the group had solid repuatations (First run did also, just most lacked quest knowledge). I drank 1 pot myself this time and that wasn't absolutely necessary. Didn't hear anyone else say they drank any and the run was reasonably smooth. There were a few deaths but the tank didn't die once.

It's pretty much the same as any raid I suppose. You need a leader who knows whats what and can direct the quest as it's moving, at least for a while until it becomes well known by those who run it a lot. Even then, some mic instructions from the tank would seem to be necessary (When to come in, when to get out etc) to make things easier for all concerned.

TLDR : After my first run, I thought this raid was a beast, but after the second with a more co-ordinated group and good leadership, I'm sure this raid can be metagamed for no resource usage (Scrolls not counting) by decent groups soon (If not already). Higher difficulties will prove more of a challenge I'm sure, but can't imagine the tactics will be that much different.

Can i ask what type of char tanked LoB? melee, arcane o divine?

Melee- Monk/Fighter split (I think). Can't remember the exact lvl split, but he's a well known leader of a fishy type guild on Khyber :D

Tell the tank to bring a big shield and a healing amp stick. (If one can't afford the larges for a healing amp stick, he shouldn't be tanking endgame content. - It takes 8 shroud runs to build one from scratch, on average)

Don't be on a hurry, let the tank sit behind his shield and deal no damage if you need. It's the cheapest way to recover from a bad position, and is what you should be doing when the DPS are busy killing dogs/trash/pillars.

Human and helf melees with serious racial healing amp and a 60% healing amp stick can be healed with scrolls/capstone easily, if they are shield blocking.

When you clear all trash/dogs/pillars, get at least 2 divines on the tank , give him a few seconds to build more aggro, then DPS away.
