LOL New Splash Screen *Disclaimer

So I just noticced a bit ago they jsut changed the new $99 1 year VIP subscription splash screen they added a few days back. It now has a disclamer at the bottom. They definately just added this to the splash screen late this morning, it wasn't there around 5AM PST.

*VIPs to earn VIP gameplay access to Artificers in Update 12.

As with FVS and Drow, they will unlock with favour if they don't buy it.

I'm still not buying it till U12, this needed to be formally announced before U11.

Yeah, the disclaimer is a little oddly written. VIPs aren't getting anything special here, in update 12.

In Update 12, the plan is to provide a favor unlock for Artificers. All players will have access to this unlock, as long as they have access to the packs for the favor.

The disclaimer is necessary because they advertise that VIPs get free access to all classes, except those that have a favor unlock. But the favor unlock doesn't actually exist yet.

The updated message now says:

"The Drow Race, Favoured Soul and Artificer class are available to VIPs through game-play or through purchase at the DDO Store. Once acquired through game-play, the race or class is available for any new character or true reincarnated character on the same server. The Artificer class will become available to VIPs to earn via gameplay starting in Update 12."

Well, I suppose if pedantry mattered for us VIPs its just as important for the premiums. Yeah. They should indeed change this to 'will become available for all account types to earn through gameplay starting in Update 12' - this is about being clear to customers, after all, rather than getting something extra for the money.

More like they were tired of the prodding of pitchforks and burns from the torches. I love how anyone speaking up is "Crying" personally only loss of loved ones or getting my nethers pinched causes tears for me, but if it makes you feel better to call those who speak up whining have at it.

I am glad they changed it though it makes people able to make an informed decision to whether VIP is worth it even with their new 99 dollar plan.

At least they're trying to move the verbiage in the right direction now. They may be rushing and getting it wrong but as long as they don't stop trying until it's right I'll be happy.

It carries that insinuation, but doesn't explicit state it. They also insinuate that FvS and Drow are only unlockable to VIPs. I don't think the unlock will actually be restricted to VIPs. As long as the premium player purchases the packs needed for the favor, I expect them to be able to unlock them.

It would certainly be preferable to not have the insinuation that VIPs specifically get access to those unlocks.

Probably the players who kept cross-posting the exact same issues and arguments over a dozen different threads or so. Having one's say is fine. Beating people over the head with it after you've been heard? Not so much.

See? already a misconception. Hendrik may now be thinking he MUST buy VIP in order to unlock Arti through favor.

The correct answer should be 'No'. All players will be able to unlock through favor after U12. But now there's confusion and chaos. great.

I doubt it, but if so, then there's a slew of OTHER pages that need corrected. If Free/Premium are now excluded entirely from unlocking certain races/classes, well... I shudder to think. Let's assume that's not the case. Let's assume this is just another misworded ad.

Absolutely, as did the arguments they were countering. Some of those threads might as well have been spamming "TASTES GREAT!" and "LESS FILLING!" since neither side was going to budge and the arguments weren't changing either way.

I think you guys are over-analyzing the new wording. Something can be a ´perk´of VIP and still be available by other means. Ironically, I was just setting up a new website and had the same thing happen. 3 classes of hosting.. free, personal and commercial. A nice table showing the perks of each, and both the personal and commercial came with email accounts. Now, if that company does an advertisment based solely on their commercial package.. wouldn´t they include ´email accounts´ as one of the perks? of course they would.
