I had feared that when the new HP and SP displays came live my 354 (unbuffed) level 18 Sorc would be scorned and ridiculed for his tiny little red bar. The reality is that there are many, many, many, other characters out there with shockingly low HP totals.
I'm not just talking about Drow and Elf casters either, (which I've seen go as low as 145 at level 18! How is that even possible?) I've seen melee classes with less HP at the same level!
I always knew there were some players out there that were a little squishie, but the extent of it really surprised me when I got to see the naked truth.
Who would have thought that suddenly Elves and Drow would look so bad naked while Dwarves and War Forged suddenly look so much better. :)

Ya, i was a little worried at 1st but luckily my charicters all seem to blend in about where they -sould- be. One of my guys is even above average so its worked well.
I was however suprised at some of the stuff i saw while leveling my TR. Level 10-12 that have barely cleared 100hps or in a few cases hadnt even gotten that are all over the place...scary stuff :)

Yup, I over estimated my squishieness. Appearently I have a decent sized red bar, for a Sorc :)

I will make it a source of comedy, just you wait and see ;P
Imagine a Monk with 4 CON, no AC and no false life item joining your group and not dying. Now imagine the barbarian with well over 3 times the HP of said monk dying at least 3 times. Now imagine said monk leading Shroud. Imagine the wisecracks.
HP isn't everything, but it sure does help.

Eh... My sorcerer has 300 HP with a 28 CON. Human. I chose not to take toughness. So no one can say I totally dismissed CON.

I noticed the same thing in the last couple of days.

Looking forward to reading the drama.
One thing I noticed is how few HP the hirelings have.
Even though some players are little squishy , they are still usually better than a hireling.

goes both ways...
Current life at 14 i got around 460 hp... i regularly since u11 get barbs and fighters with 150-200ish at lv 10-14 join, and instead of helping they just follow me around and watch me fight. if they do anything, its only to rush up to the 'do not kill X' mobs and kill them for me :/
LOL I think I'll just find a good rog and duo every quest from here to 20.

Only capped toon i've got at the moment is an elven ranger with 360hp, not only is it average but it's way above some 20's i've seen, in the few runs i've done so far.

Meh ive never had anything to hide and currently my lowest hp elf is sitting at 320 and shes 18 and a caster. HP is not impossible to come by and while I probably wont be sitting at 800+ on any of my builds I have enough to survive most content and play smart. If I join a group and they tell me I do not have enough I will just find a group who isn't worried about it because I know I can do well on my end.

The 90 HP Lvl 12 Pale Squishy Wizzy took the cake for me so far...
I had to my DDO - that was with a +3 con item on!

I am hoping this stay light hearted in nature. My point was that the reality of players HP is far below what I had expected from reading the forums.
I agree, as long as you have more HP then your hireling, you're not a lost cause. :)

Relatively few players read the forums, and even fewer post.
Misconceptions about HP are, unfortunately, rampant among newer players. Hopefully, over time, people will realize that they're well behind the more experienced players, and they'll correct their mistakes before they get to end-game where HP is really important.

hehe it would seem they are quite rampant amongst experienced ones too, adding myself to the list that expected far more toons to have what all the avid 'forumers' claim to be the 'minimal' acceptable hp!

Was in a group last night where the cleric leader, level 12 halfling, had 110 HP. Buffed with Rage.
She died quite a lot. But had a good attitude about it all. So it was entertaining.

If you are a forum follower, you would believe anything below 450 hit points will be laughed at. Once reality comes into play, and you realize this is 10% of the population that plays, your 320 (or less) hit point characters start feeling a lot better about themselves.

lol, that's actually not so bad for a caster if he's new to the game. by not so bad I mean obviously not up to standards, but still someone who cared about their HP when they made the character & chooses equipment. I hope you considered sending him a tell with advice about false life, etc, if he was dying.
It could be worse (http://my.ddo.com/character/orien/kwizqjirqtl/)!
That's after wearing a con item, eating a +2 tome, false life (not currently listed on myddo, necklace), and having the barbarian past life. Just posting for comparison to a really squishy caster as an intentional choice

Please tell me that character was created for comedic purposes. Cause if so, it's hilarious, if not, I'm sorry I laughed at your tiny little bar.

Ya. It's a roleplaying character, and quite possibly the only horc sorc in existence.

I've seen some of this too, the reality of it is that some of those are players I know to be good players and have never had any problems in raids or epics etc. Sure hp is important but skill seems to trump HP in most cases.
