Red Fens name a nod to the Boston Red Sox?

I was just reading an article about Tim Wakefield's 200th win (186th with the Red Sox). In the article, it says "And on a Tuesday night in the Fens...". That got me thinking--Red Sox, Fenway Park---Red Fens??
So, is the explorer area The Red Fens a nod to the Boston Red Sox? Am I simply catching up to what everyone else noticed years ago when the Red Fens were released?

Devs are in Boston from what I've read, and there's nothing much that's colored red in the "Red Fens" :p
