I currently have a half orc monster and i'm going to tr into a half-elf but can't decide whether to stay with tempest 1 or pick up the arcane archer pre.

If i went tempest again then i'd gain 10% more off hand attack, +3 sneak attack damage from going rogue and higher UMD, more skill points etc. In the few times i actually use a bow, ADQ2 for example, I've never been very impressed by the damage output and will use melee whenever possible. If bows are much better now i guess i could pick up point blank shot and then the helves angel build will only have slayer arrows when the monster wouldn't. Improved precise shot sounds great but with the lengthy cool down i'm not sure how useful it will be.

I guess the real question is whether slayer arrows for 20 seconds is better than 10% more off hand attacks for the next 100.

Personally I'm not a fan of ranged combat, and will be TR'ing my pure dwarven fighter into a HElf Monster in about a month.

The Helves angel is a solid build though, and I think it outdamages the Monster overall IF you're going to pull out a bow every 2 minutes. That doesn't suit my playstyle, so I'm sticking with the Monster.

well, as long as you have 6 ranger, you should make the use of manyshoot. unload, take out blades. unload, take out blades. i know a few people who do this, including me :3
maximum dps for a ranger right here.

i wouldnt trust slaying arrows for 20 seconds. i just use acid or force burst, since its more trustworthy and dont have to depend on a 20 to kill. OH he has 1 hp and i got a 20 on him... what a waste of a 20... mostly about luck for those slaying arrows. maybe decent orange/boss beaters but not sure about regular damage/trash mobs.
