Madstone boots and potions

So the wiki says you can use potions with madstone rage, but should you be able to use potions when the madstone reaction kicks in?

I was in a Vod group the other day and had the boots on, reaction proc'd, got cursed, and I couldn't drink a remove curse pot.

Is not being able to drink pots WAI or can you not even drink pots when you get the reaction proc? It doesn't really say if you can or can't on the reaction wiki page.

Normal potions won't work, guild potions will work.

and the reason is that normal remove curse potions can target other players and guild potions can't so i think it's WAI
