Shuriken User

So I was looking at the races and drow shuriken expertise caught my eye, I was curious if there was a fun way to make use of that? Like drow monk with thousand stars and also a good way to build up to that. I have vet status so I can get there quicker and hopefully really get the hang of the shuriken before actually getting thousand stars.

They don't have a great fire rate, low damage, not a lot of named versions in the game, they don't show up in chests a lot, and deconstructing the ones you find so you can craft them is bugged.

Basically, its not a workable build at this point in the game from what I can see.

There are whole 3 named shurikens:
-mlvl2 from STK
-other mlvl2 from STK
-GS shuriken

Some monks are using GS shuriken to attack mob when they can't/don't want melee, but don't its used very rare.

There's also the frost named one from the Restless Isles chain.
And GS or no, shuriken being the only ranged monk weapon makes makes a number of my toons cry. It's not a good weapon.

They are craftable too. It's just tricky to find a disjunctable one.

I have been mulling over shuriken builds for quiet some time and remember your build. Do you think Imp Crit is that beneficial? I mean its the auto slay at lvl 18 that would make the build shine/ish. ;-)

The increased threat range includes burst (extra on crit effects) and so it should pay off

A while ago I posted a drow rgr 2 / monk 6 / ftr 12 build (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=3950154&postcount=23): Ninja I / Kensai II who used shuriken & short swords. Drow for the racial weapon bonuses & free Shuriken Expertise, rgr splash for extra feats. It was a flavor build, of course, less DPS than a good AA build, but it had a full set of ranged & melee feats, 2nd-tier monk stances, Ten Thousand Stars, etc.

A 2nd tier GS Shuriken & 10k stars is a good choice if you need a stone skin clickie while leveling TR monk. I would skip shuriken expertise though. 10k stars is cheap to respec...feats are not.
