Hello DDO Brethren and Sistren,

Any advice/critique is welcome.

Goals:

-Good Damage (not GREAT, but good) 6d6 sneak dice, Firestance 3, Touch of Death, Stunning Fist, G'ments of E., Haste boost I, Divine Might I
-Evasion with decent buffed saves
-Self sufficient like a mother; Self heals + heal amp + some buffs + high UMD
-UMD
-good (not epic level) stuns & ToDs

FYI: Rogue 1 is for UMD and Haste boost. Both are pretty solid.

Heals:

Cure Critical 29base x(1.3x1.5x2x1.5)=169.7 with metas,enh, and sup potency BEFORE heal amp.

169.7 x(1.2x1.3x1.2x1.1)= 349 average without 10% and 30% healing amp item (I don't have those yet)

Rad Serv Bursts will heal me for about: 139 a pop. Not bad for being free/regenerating.



Required Gear:

1. Torc (will have this b4 I TR again)
2. DT with 10 Heal Amp (easy to get) (just got this)
3. Other?

Thoughts?

7 cleric is a decent and underrated splash, but for a monk, not so much. The big thing about 7 cleric is self heal, divine power for full BAB and radiant burst for undead killing early levels.

-Monk already get full BAB
-Monks already get great self-healing compared to other melee classes. Ramp up a bunch of healing amp, and even cure serious pots become quite sizable heals.

My suggestion, if you want self-sufficient monk for leveling is the 12 monk/7-8 fighter build. You'd get quite a bit more DPS and have the option to have sizable AC or even take healing dragonmarks.

i love cleric/monk builds like this, and it just so happens that i created a build with a few of the same focus points in my design. high umd/self-suff/non-warforged. i went drow and took the ninja spy 1 pre for shortsword use as ki weapons(but loans itself well for unarmed to swap feats for stunning). check this out:

I've been trying to rework my ideas for monk.. Went back and forth on some other builds. But I came back to this one.

What I would have that the 12 mnk/7-8 ftr wouldn't:

-UMD
-Sneak Dmg (6d6)
-Lottsa hjeals
-harder to get buffs (Fom, recitation, death ward*) in addition to others that are available on clickies [*i know about TR goggles for DW and I have 1. But it IS only 7 mins, and it CAN be dispelled. I suppose I could farm a few more..]


Three questions I have for this build tho:

What do I do as far as wis and STR go?

Can I get a decent stunning fist DC without gimping str?

What gear would help?

at 7 clr, your dw would only last 7 min, and would be just as dispellable as the tw clickie :P

1 rog lv means(With the pretty LOW skills per level) your gonna sink 2 into umd, 2 into balance, and poof, all your skills gone(This is assuming u have 14+ int)

It might look good on paper, but a 12/8 monk/rog split, or fgt split(lose sneak but gain LOTS of dmg, and pure dmg > Sneaks in most cases)

Also, one more note, sinking a lot of ap/levels into getting firestance 3 which really is only 1 more str than firestance 1. A little stat shifting and u could settle quite happily with tier 1 fire and get all the benefits u would from 3.

The build split u got could still work quite well, but would take some good gear.(Again, remember clerics and monks don't get loads of skills and umd and many other skills, are cross class skills, needing 2 to rank it once)

1. Might have extend, even if I don't, recast is easier with a blue bar.. but still, touche.
2. I will have UMD on this toon. So 1 rog is more/less non-nogotiable unless 1 bard makes more sense.. or 1 arti.. As far as skill points, I don't need to max balance. I max UMD and concentration with leftover in balance. The skills work fine IMO based on what I have above. (assumes a +2 supreme tome at 7)
3. Firestance thing = good point. Will strongly consider that as APs are tight
4. Noted.

I really like the idea of a monk melee that can throw himself quickened hjeals in combat. I'm just a stickler about self-hjeals that way. The alternative would be scrolls and pots between fights.. which.. I don't like as much. (Although with the right heal amp,I'm not ruling it out 100% yet)

I also understand that I'm trading some dmg for the hjeals. That's normally how it works (except for WF wizzys.. of which I have one.. )
