So, what melee weapon is best? Which has the most DPS?
Some issues for choice of single weapon style:
1. Bastard swords and daxes can I think do more damage than khopesh in the specific example of single weapon fighting style using glancing blows (I remember a good thread about this but don't know now).
2. Khopesh is certainly a feat cheap option compared to taking the full THF'ing line and going bastard sword or daxe.
3. A Dwarf Artificer can use dwarf axes with masters touch making them a very attractive choice.
4. A non-WF, non-Drow Artificer can get dragonmarks and use an epic chimaera's fang boosted up to +8 enhancement (effective +2 att/dam). A human can use the sentinel dragonmarks to boost it up to +10 enhancement.
5. Glancing blows give some utility.
6. Arm cannons synergise well with glancing blows giving the bonus damage to every glancing blow.
Some issues if considering big weapons or TWF'ing:
1. If you are considering using a 2 hander or TWF'ing you might as well play a bard.
2. You don't get arm cannon damage (anyone figured out how much DPS these add?)
3. You don't get insightful strikes/damage.
So, what is best?
Options I see:
1. human/halfling/helf w/eCF +GTHF'ing +sentinel or other DM's
2. WF w/alchemic crafted khopesh +cleave +great cleave
3. human w/eCF +GTHF'ing +crafting DM's +cleave +great cleave
4. dwarf/WF w/alchemic crafted dwarf axe +GTHF'ing +cleave +great cleave
In each of these cases I am assuming intelligence based (with a solid strength for AB and bursts). Any ideas yet what percentage of a full DPS class a melee Artificer will be able to contribute? 75-80%?
(If you are going to make comparisons between different fighting styles please include comparisons of comparable weapons. Currently, I don't see that eSoS has any comparable weapon though I understand that it should be included for completeness along with more obvious comparisons).
