View Full Version : Are there any really decent melee Robes/ Light Armours?

So finally having taken the plunge to make red Dragonscale, I'm now trying to decide what kind.

I have a Blitz build, with me running mostly guild runs,I'm never (or it's very unlikely) I'll ever be tanking with him.
He's also never going to be anything other than a Blitz or Barb for the forseeable future.

With that in mind, I realize the robe version of the ERDS armor is a favourite of many due to the ease of switching robes, and that's kinda what I'm wondering. Are there any other DPS boosting armors, or light (so I can keep evasion) armors of another kind that I should be looking for?

I can see building a DT set if I was tanking, but as I mentioned,it's unlikely to happen, and it certainly won't be a common enough occurrence to merit me putting together some armour for it.

I guess it really boils down to- Can I wear ERDS full time as there isn't really anything better DPS/all around wise or there is another armor I'm not thinking of. If I can wear the Red Dragonscale full time, that would be my preference as I can make the Light armor version and toss an armor kit over it. (Not a fan of the robe armor kits), but if I've completely forgotten a better situational or all round armor, I'll probably just go with the robe version.

Other DPS increasing light armors:

Epic Vulkoorim Fighting Leathers - worth swapping in for the highest AC bosses, although Blitz builds probably don't need to for anything other than Turigulon or Malicia. (These are mediocre at best anyway).

Yeah that's about it.

DT is worth considering for situational use though. Several Sovereign effects are quite potent - Destruction or Sundering Ooze Guard for the high AC bosses, Enervation/Radiance guard for debuffing trash, or damaging guards like Disintegration. And you can put some extra healing amp on it too.

Armour kit over Red Dragon Armour? Are you crazy!?!?!

As Sirgog said, a guard setup on DT is good. I use that when fighting fire immune enemies.

IMO Red armour is more DPS than Epic Marilith Chain vs non fire immune mobs. Epic Marilith is another option against Devils and Velah though. Even the normal Marilith Chain with Greater Bold Trinket is nice.

Just don't put Hvy fort on the Red Armour if you intent to swap it around. Good Luck +2 and +6dex I put on mine for the saves, so if you are just doing DPS on a boss swapping it out will have minimal effect.

Thanks for suggestions, might end up doing a DT set ,more healing Amp is always nice to have.

LOL I'm actually getting this from a few people, unfortunately (or fortunately I guess) ERDS armor has long lost it's "status" symbol (imo) , and I'm really not a fan of the Dragon Hide look. And (if I remember correctly) I can turn the kit off if I want to look all manly in red.

Marilith chain would be cool, but it's medium so I'd lose evasion (I am addicted to those little "Evasion" words that appear above my head)
