View Full Version : Pet Docents armor?

My pet currently has 35 AC with enhancements.
Today, when I equipped a +2 docent of reinforced armor +3, it did not affect its armor class.
Last night, when I equipped the same item, it increased its armor by 1. I was unsure whether reinforced armor stacked with the +2 enhancement, but in either case, I expected at least a bonus of 3 from this.
Does anyone know why this is?

The only docent affect I've seen function so far is Spell Resistance :\

From observation I think the fire/cold/acid ect.. guard docents do as advertised
my current pet has an acid guard one and I do see enemy disolving sometimes after attacking my pet
So I take that as it is working.

I can see guard effects and natural resistance being the vogue but it would be interesting to know if anything with intimidate or skills like that such as sunder or trip would help at all.
It's hard to figure out even if weapon modules are working as advertised. I did att a holy of pure good and noticed a change in holy symbol and DR breaking against some evil outsiders, but I didn't really observe more DPS.
I hope it works, because in the end I'd like to add something like disruption or even smiting for that additional DPS and even like to find out if you can make named items into modules. I don't think so but I haven't read anyone that tried.

on the new build. all newbie artificers start with a +1 docent and a +1 module of Cold touch after the grotto. they seem to be working as advertised now. i picked up the addy armor enhancement for my pup and equipped the docent, it's armor went up by one.
with the module i noticed the dog freezing enemies on kils sometimes. being i was using the Flame repeater and not casting any offensive spells, i know it wasnt me freezing them.

Mine got acid touch, might be random element.

I've notice that a +2 Enhancement on a Docent didn't help at all, but Natural Armor and Stability work normally. I've been trying to guess what kind of armor bonuses a pet gets, but you don't get the popup breakdown like you do on a normal character sheet.

Did you unequip and rep equip? Don't forget pet docents are still bugged and this has to be done everytime you log in your Artie.

I can tell you that a dragontouched docent with heavy fort, 6 con, and a guard work wonders heh. Dragontouched should really be what you shoot for for your pet. Only way to get him heavy fort and actually be able to tank. 6 con and a damage guard are also fantastic. Docent of defiance isnt nearly as good on a pet with super limited slots.
Also I am super lucky and got handwraps with improved destruction and some other stuff. Meelees love you for your destruction pet, even if he isnt contributing as much to the fight as he could, that -8 ac that nobody has to apply is sexy.

I crafted a Superior Stability docent of Lifeshield for my puppy
I have seen my Pet come back from -8 to get back in the fight soloing so i know lifehield works, superior stability giving +6 ac and +6 saves shows up too on the character sheet.
I still need to unequip/reequip every time i summon pet to see the colors of the docent. Maybe the bug goes further than just colors showing...
I suggest you do the same with your docents, AND MODULES as i have noted that my pets +4 acid module of lesser giant bane, does NOT show the acid component (nor deal the damage) until i have unequipped/re-equipped it.
My tests are on LIVE (Wayfinder vs our training dummy)

I use the supressed docent out of Mindsunder, but I'm considering to make the docent out of the new challenge system and add con +6 to it (Epic).
I use 4 different modules. One with banishing, another with disruption and a third with smiting. The smiting also damages str and I see that all works. The pet even insta kills targets. I also have a keen of tendon slice 8% one that I crafted but I use that one less.
I've also noticed that giving a pet anything with elemental or additional damage (such as bane or burst or something like that) seems to be wasted.
