View Full Version : Summoned Bolts bugged?

The bolts i summon with the "Conjure Bolts" Infusion cannot be put into a quiver, they do not stack in my inventory slots and if i run out of ammo and summon a new stack they are not automatically selected or put into the empty ammo slot so i have to do it manually every time i run out of ammo. I haven't played a ranged character so far and i don't know how the summoned arrows of an Arcane Archer behave but is this WAI?

As it is now this behaviour is quite annoying and it's no fun having to empty 3 or more inventory slots for ammo when you have a completely empty quiver where they would fit perfectly. Especially at the rates that the repeating Xbows eat bolts.

Will those issues be adressed in a future update or can it at least be changed to summoning stacks of 100% returning bolts?

would be nice if it would just automatically cost you 5 SP and put a stack of bolts into your ammo slot whenever you are out of ammo instead...

not sure how hard to code that would be, but it would certainly be nice.

Since equipping a stack of bolts from inventory works when you run dry of the one that is equipped it would be nice to implement a check to do the equipping when i try to fire and have a stack of bolts in my inventory but no stack equipped instead of showing the message that i'm out of ammo. That way you would not have to open the inventory tab everytime you run dry of bolts.

if you take a sec to do it as I say then not needed to open Inventory,, Also it is just as easy to buy some bolts and not have to worry..

conjured bolts are only +1... so once you find a +1 repeater it would just be easier to get a big quiver and fill it with plain bolts.

unless you are using flame arrow to conjure bolts that do an extra 1d6 damage...

As stated above, since the +1 for bolts and repeaters do not stack, I always try to get my house D favor as soon as possible. Then get a very large quiver from DDO store that holds 1500 of 4 types of bolts. I buy all 4 types that house D sells and can go 2 or 3 quests before I have to replace them. With the Arti, that would free up a 1st level spell slot as well.

but if your already using a flaming or flaming burst repeater, you really dont need that one either.

It is annoying, and it should automatically pull them for you, as well as being able to put them in a quiver.

Here's what I do now. As soon as I log on, I summon at least 2 stacks. Equip one of the stacks, and then place it on my toolbar. That way I can tell how many I have left in the initial stack, so I know to summon another stack when that is about to run out. So I always have at least 1 or 2 stacks, in addition to my initial equipped stack. It's a pain to do it every time, but it helps.

I know there is lots of workarounds which themselves are mostly quite annoying too.
I just hope the Devs read this post and do something to make workarounds unnecessary. I think everybody agrees that the actual behaviour is annoying.
If a new stack of bolts can be equipped from inventory when the equipped one runs dry it shouldnt be too hard to equip one from inventory when i try to fire without a stack equipped but plenty of bolts in my inventory. And it shouldn't be too hard to make the summoned bolts stack too.

Forum rep for that! Workarounds should only be a temporary solution until an ultimate real fix.

At the very least, this needs to be done when they start their ranged "pass". If they can spend the time to allow crafting/deconstructing ingredients to be pulled from ingredients bags, when crafting is still in a beta stage, and finally how much Khyber and Siberys dragonshards. they should be able to automatically pull arrows and bolts from inventory spaces and other quivers, into their usable spots. Or at the very least make the conjured bolts stack more than just 100 in the inventory (which by itself would be a bandaid fix.)

Could we at least get a "Read by Dev" on this please?

Its back to how the system was before quivers came along and Auto loading.:) you have to fill up a backpack up with bolts. But it worse now. But the simple solution to it would be a add a bolt to your shortcut bar and like potions it will give you a total count of that many bolts in your backpack. It only shows that stack and no more.

Now if you stack more then 100 bolts then the quiver becomes little use since you will have just 1 stack of bolts.

Ranger would love this they always have issues with Arrows unless they went along the AA path.
