Having played a Paladin for a year now I have now idea what you mean. Please restate your question.

Here maybe this explains it more..basically I'm asking why there are two different types of paladin truth bringers.

The truth is that no one knows or cares why there are two different builds on that page because no one informed enough to come to the forums uses those pages.
Try tihocan's revised builds for new players (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=232660) instead.

The original builds in the compendium were horrid, and tihocan created better builds for newbies in his thread.
The compendium has since been updated (I think) to include better builds.... but the truth is that we don't even look at those builds anymore because of the past, so I can't be sure.

Follow the link and check those builds out. If you have any questions after that people will be willing to help, but the question you're asking now is kind of one of those "Who knows?" type deals.

ahh, that makes sense. yes, the turbine built paths are very poor, i suggest following a build off the forums a vet has built. you've already got one great link for almost any class, but here is one just for paladins

this is made by junts, a paladin expert:

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=218542

read through that to get some great insight in how paladins work in DDO. there are also some sample builds at the end for all sorts of paladin types.

Definitely read through Junts' guide, linked by ReaperAlexEU above. I copy and pasted the narrative text to a Word document and printed it out to read at my leisure. Must've read through it 20 times.

I'm a first time player, paladin is my main and he's now up to level 18. I love him to pieces, though I would tweak a couple very minor things here and there about the build. I posted the build to the forums with those tweaks implemented: Evasion Paladin for new players (28pt Human) (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=327669).

If you go another direction, I recommend a few key things to look for in a pally build:

At least 21 base strength, meaning 16 to start + all five levelups
No levelups in charisma
At least 14 starting constitution

Anything below these numbers would raise a red flag in my eyes.

And +1 for coming to the forums to ask a question rather than getting the Special Helmet Crew's answers in Korthos/Harbor/Market.

In Junts' guide he mentions that Exalted Smite is very expensive in terms of action points, and since a fully specced smiting pally only gets a dozen or so smites per shrine it's a good place to cut back on action points. He knows way more than me, but I wouldn't do that. IMO, Exalted Smite IV is awesome, and it works out to more than that per shrine because they regenerate one per 90 seconds.

I just tanked the Stormreaver and enjoyed the heck out of the 11-12 smites I landed to help pull aggro each time he threw me in the air.

I'd say the single most important thing for a paladin is to spam divine sacrifice every 3 seconds like clockwork when fighting anything of consequence. It's a great habit to get into, and if you're tanking a raid boss it's a critical skill to have mastered.

If you're curious about enhancements in general, the ones I'm going with for my evasion paladin are:

Enhancement: Paladin Knight of the Chalice III
Enhancement: Paladin Exalted Smite IV
Enhancement: Paladin Divine Might III
Enhancement: Paladin Divine Sacrifice I

Enhancement: Paladin Extra Lay on Hands III
Enhancement: Unyielding Sovereignty

Enhancement: Paladin Toughness IV
Enhancement: Racial Toughness II
Enhancement: Human Improved Recovery I
Enhancement: Paladin Resistance of Good III

Enhancement: Rogue Haste Boost I
Enhancement: Human Versatility I
Enhancement: Rogue Sneak Attack Training I

Enhancement: Human Adaptability: Strength
Enhancement: Paladin Item Defense I

Enhancement: Paladin Extra Smite Evil IV (prereq)
Enhancement: Paladin Courage of Good II (prereq)
Enhancement: Paladin Energy of the Templar II (prereq)
Enhancement: Follower of the Sovereign Host (prereq)

This is just the level 20 selection, though, and it looks very different at low levels. I generally respec every 3 levels or so. For example, going Hunter of the Dead with Divine Light from (pally) levels 6-12, then switching to Knight of the Chalice. (Item Defense is only in there because there was a point left over.)

The Stormreaver is Lawful Neutral, so those Smites shouldn't have done any extra damage to him. His aggro resets when he throws people up, so doing any damage should pull aggro to you.
