Just a quick question....about how long has the shared bank been known to go wonky at times at "eat" items?...
just curious as it just happened to me, and you can guess the answer I got...

if you're talking about ingredient bags then I've seen it at the very least over the course of the past year and change, I think it has been around longer than that.

not ing. bags this time...just moving the Diabolist's Robe I pulled on my barb last night to my gimp wizard; drug it once, it didn't move...uh-oh...tried to close bank window, no response...waited about 3-4 minutes...tried to log out, couldn't log either...waited another few minutes and closed the client...relogged to have no robe in bank, inv. or buyback. Submitted a ticket, but, well, you know....

meh, at least it was just the robe, could have been worse...

In similar, lost item cases over the years, in-game mails to +Sparker have occasionaly resulted in replacement items. Might be worth a shot.

It's been my experience that if I wait long enough, the move eventually completes.

I would strongly caution against logging out or closing the client for a long time. Once in awhile I've had to want as long as several minutes, but my transactions always eventually complete. (I haven't tried ingredients bags.)

If you initiate a transaction and it is in-process, maybe logging out and closing the client is what causes the item to go missing. My advice : wait it out.

I agree. I've had to wait several minutes at times for a move to complete, but have yet to lose anything.

yes i think the accepted idea is NOT to close the client or alt f4 etc but just let it go even if it takes 10mins for anything to happen. theory is that if i close client and the items still "froze in limbo" its then lost for good

The item is there. It's either still in the bank or in your inventory. If it's in your inventory, then it might have its visibility glitched. Relogging usually fixes it.

If you do not wait for the transfer to be complete. This is especially prevalent during the 'database maintenance' that occurs early AM eastern time (want to say 2-3 or 3-4 eastern, but can't remember).

It is noticed more with the ingredient bags, because the bags transfer the items one at a time (when you buy stacks of something that goes into a bag, open the bag first and watch how the items are 'filled in') and the bank transfer works the same way.

Morale of the story, you have to wait for the transfer to complete, and if you log or especially if you ALT-F4 you risk losing your item(s). Sometimes rebooting helps, sometimes simply re-logging will fix it (also, look for the item in another slot, I have had this happen where the item never moves to the bank, but moves to a different spot in inventory).

This is a mechanic of the way the client and server side data synchs and is a known issue with no fix based on the implementation of the database system in use. Also, while occasionally your items will be returned, for the most part, since the items are no longer in 'any' database, there is no way to verify what you lost and thus, it will not be returned, so beware and be patient :)

Always. Reports of eaten items have been done since the shared bank was first put in game.

Several years ago.

Still the best thing you could buy from the store. This and Vale of Twilight.

Quests may get stale but the shared bank will prevail.
