So what would be your least favorite DDO way to die. I gotta go with implosion. Its kinda slow and you just get crushed in on yourself, sounds really painful and unpleasant too.

Hold person, and subsequently being poked to death by a few kobolds... on a WF...

Don't you love those lapses on immunity sometimes?

Lag death.

I just died fighting Harry. I went from 670 HPs to zero in the blink of an eye. I don't really blame the healers (there were 3 clerics even) so much as the lag that didn't allow them time to react to the damage I was taking.

...then immediately falling off the bridge as soon as it starts.

Was in a group where the leader did just that. :D

But I'd have to go with the OP: Implosion.

That would suck to see the rouge disappear in a purple cloud. Then the cleric. Then the wizard and know you were next.

heres a couple ways that I hate...

relics quest:
running down the very first corridor, before you get to the door, cutting the corner to sharply, falling into the lava pit twice in a row <groan> *ding* *ding* followed by comments like "bwaaahahahaha", "really? twice?" and "can someone raise the cleric... again"

any quest:
getting incapped, slowly dropping 1 hp per round, then finally stabilizing because the Mantle finally kicks in... and along come a kobold/orc/orth, tiefling, etc who swats you for no good reason and *ding*...

ToD
Judge and Jailer part, cursed, die end up in penalty box... getting a scroll rez and 10% hp back, hop in lava, head towards shrine and *ding*... burnt to a crisp because you forget to heal/drink a pot, whatever... - and- getting the badge in the final fight, having the quest go haywire and fail, rez out - with the badge still in effect, and *ding* dead at your rez spot <sigh>....

Rainbow in the dark , someone steps on a button everyone dies but my monk who barely survives , looking like a hero to get everyone to the shrine. Got incepted once and turned off wind stance to stand back up. Barriers drop and one lone mob and I think cool easy enough , click windstance for the fight and ding.

Hero to zero in 10 sec.

----
Side note did they change that recently? I think I tried to wind stance with low hp and I don't think it let me.
It was a rather inebriated evening so I might have been not doing what I think I was doing.

WW (I think we were doing only hard, some PC was low level...)
First, something happens and we get in an argument: I keep calm, play the mature, speak clear, slow, without screaming "people calm dow, you always get so stressed".
Minutes later, have to pass swimming the tunnel where you have to pull the lever several times to open and close the doors.
"Pull...PULL.... PULLLLLL.... PULLL THE F.::REEEZING.LEVEEEEERRRR" (hysterical, high peached voiced)
incap a few inches above surface...ding seconds later. All my coolness watered..

Least favorite way to die in DDO: Fall into lava at Twelve. Really, really embarrassing.

Least favorite way DDO way to die in real life: That one is hard, as there are so many painful ones. Probably lava pool in Sorrowdusk -- it does not cause that much damage so takes a long time, but it's a pit with vertical walls and no way to escape.

BTW, I am a diver in RL, and first time I ran Sleeping Dust it gave me the creeps. The "foyer" of Sleeping Dust is every diver's nightmare -- being lost in underwater structure collapsed at crazy angles, and no way to tell which way is up. The only things missing were darkness and sounds of breathing.

I have two that drive me nuts. Both are from the Lordsmarch chains.

First, Blockade buster: At the control panel make detinator, advise all to stay away from the panel in chat and text. Someone who entered after we loot the chest, sees us disappear loots quickly and open mine hatches with 5 second delay. Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding go the rest of us on the lower decks. Some choice words for the survivor and soulstone on the seafloor. (Now, i know why Homer strangles Bart). Happens about every third run, squelch list growing and growing.

Second, Siegebreaker (i think): Clearing mine field with droam charges, set charge, turn to run, step on mine, fail save, come on balance skill, stand up, boooooommmmm. -1598 hp is the lowest any of my characters had ever been. Winning :)

08-05-2011, 12:55 PM
The "Lag Drop." You make some meaningless jump, my example is the Spider and Crate room in Waterworks part one. I was jumping down from the middle ledge, got hit by lag for about 15 seconds or so, while in mid air. The game calculated my hang time into the damage algorithm, and hit me with 200 plus falling damage...on a level 2 wizard.

Koshy11
08-05-2011, 12:56 PM
Well if you follow the OP line of thoughts, he's mentioning a single spell effect that would relate to how to die agonizingly in real life term, instead of painful tragic deaths.

My vote goes to acid fog, as mean as being imploded, it's a relatively fast and painful death. However imagine choking and burning with every breath until you die. I'd consider the worse way to go in a slow horrid way because lets face it, unable to breath, while having your skin and whatever you're wearing melting on you is far worse than being blown up from the inside out.

As for gaming death, getting lost in a tunnel of water with no sense of direction would be any diver's nightmare, the desperation of trying to find your way while running out of air, is far worse than being melted by lava in the 12.

1) a long time ago at Madstone Crater I followed someone who jumped... into a no-exit lava pit.
2) yesterday, in the Genesis Point maze - I jumped across towards the middle part of the bridge, hit something (the wierd light beam?) and died. I looked at my combat log to see what killed me and saw something like this: (Combat) You were killed by ... and saw my own name. Apparently I killed myself.
