Explain Dusty Rose Ioun Stone

I just had one drop Kobolds new ringleader. How do I convert this into a protection +5 trinket, and doesn't that also make it BTC?

There is a special crafting altar type thing called the Dream Forge that you can use to upgrade the trinket. The Dream Forge is found at the end of the quest called Dreaming Dark.

You will need a bunch of different essences that drop in quests that are part of the Dreaming Dark chain. I think there are 4 types of essences and you will need 6 of each type of essence to upgrade the trinket.

Now before you get too excited, the quests are all level 19 so it might be a while before you are able to upgrade that ioun stone. Once you upgrade the stone it will be bound to character.

Overall its a relatively worthless item by the time you are able to upgrade it. It can be considered marginally useful at best if you ever decide to TR your toon.

Yes, they are 4 types of essences - red, green, blue and yellow, you need 6 of each, Eye of the Titan Quest drops red or green, Reclaiming Memories Quest drops blue or green, Mining the Ancient Secrets Quest drops yellow or green, same counts for Raiding the Giants' Vault, then you have to complete the Dreaming Dark Quest (you can do on casual) and upgrade, yeah, your item will be useful to you if you plan a TR.

Have guildies run the quests with you and pass the essences to you in the chest. It goes much quicker.

I've been using a dusty rose ioun stone on my TRed monk since she hit level 5. It's very useful to an AC build if you tend to solo a lot. Granted, I could probably swap protection +5 to my DT rather than 20% healing amp (since I have a ton of that as a monk anyway) and keep my bloodstone equipped at all times...

As mentioned re: TR-ing. Having +15 spot listen at lvl 5 would be nice for my barb/rogue when he TR's. (He has the stone already).
