View Full Version : My first TR experience

A little background on my toon 20 Fighter Tring to Pally 18/2 monk. A couple of things I've noticed:
*XP hike is not as significant as I thought, I've gotten to Lvl 5 in 2 days.
*Expected to see a lot more TR's leveling, haven't grouped with a single one yet, maybe they solo a lot.
* If I never see WW again I won't be sad
* Hirelings listen better than some PUG
* Nobody wants to do STK or Catacombs. I can't get a group together. This used to be a favorite run before F2P.
* There is one hireling wiz that constantly drops grease, very annoying specially when kobolds like to throw fire flasks at you. It catches fire.
* Trying to solo Repossesions on even hard is not easy. The trap room got me.
* There are some very good players at lvl 4, I'm happy to see that.
* Hate Proof is in the poison
More to come...

One thing you'll find out is the xp hike seems low at the beginning because it is all loaded onto the back end of the leveling process. A 3rd life toon accumulates 75% of their total xp from about levels 12-20. My recommendation to you would be to strive for the following:
-Run quests one level below your current level
-Run them until you're capped on experience (holding the entirety of the next level)
This tactic will ensure that you're not struggling to eek out xp points in the higher level content (which there is much less of, and most of the endgame quests aren't good xp/minute).

Yeah I'm currently 4 because I banked 4 and 5. I'm now trying to bank 5 and 6. We'll see how that goes. Might actually have to run WW again. Ugghhh

Once I cap out at 6, I take level 5 and run H/E WW once each, and zerg STK (Part 1 once, Part 2 3x, Part 3 ~9x). With that method you'll be capped out at 7 in no time, especially on only a 2nd life toon.

I usually make it a point to run House P for my pendant but you're right since this is 2nd life no need for that, although the resists are nice. Do you skip Catacombs and Thernal?

If you are VIP or have all the packs, banking isn't really necessary. I capped my first TR life without running 25 percent of the content at all. And that was before Lordsmarch and later packs. As long as you don't go over your level or join pugs that give you a big xp hit, you won't have any problems. Second TR on the other hand...

Yes, I skip them. I skip a large amount of quests from levels 1-20, even on a 3rd life toon.
The target for quick leveling is gaining 1000+ xp/minute from any given quest.
Here is a link to my guild site forums which displays my capping process for my main's 5th life.

I capped that life in 16 Days 6.25 Hours. It's by no means the best, but it's an effective process and if I didn't have a job I could have done it in 5-6 days, maybe less :-P

It's nice if you have an opener for those high xp quests that require flagging, like shadow crypt. I don't on my current TR2, so I have to either repeat the flagging quests or find other quests/slayers.
If I TR again I will probably set up a second account so I can have that account open the quests for me. I'll be hitting 13 soon so thankfully will be past those flagging-required quests.
Is there an in-game method of telling how long you've played the character?

I agree, this is a real pain >.< I avoid this by ensuring members of my guild and plenty of my alts have openers for the crypts and other quests like them.

Not that I know of :-/ I just kept track on watch/calendar.
