Become a certified Stormreach Sanitation Engineer!

The Pit is one of the best quests in the game. It's super fun because it's more about jumping around and solving puzzles then slogging through monsters. Not enough players run this quest, so the purpose of this post is to raise awareness around Stormreach's plumbing problem.

The Pit is accesible to lower level characters. Once you practice a bit, it's quite easy to do starting with a brand new level 4 character.

It also gives very good XP/time once you are familiar with the objectives, puzzles and layout.

Best of all it's even free-to-play so anybody can run it.

To raise awareness of the sewage problems in Stromreach, Deadnettle challenges you to a race.

Objective: Complete The Pit in 20 minutes or less.
You must complete the quest and post a screen shot showing completion with the difficulty, max level in the party, kills and breakables.

Rules:

Difficulty: normal at least

Maximum Level: There are two categories...

Journeyman Plumbers: max level 7

Veteran Sewage Engineers: max level 4

Party allowed: yes, however I find solo is generally faster

Flawless Victory: 0 deaths

Persistence: 0 reentries

Expiration: none

This is my own best solo time so far...17 min at level 4.

10K xp on the second run to make the point that this is a quest worth running.

When I did The Pit a year or 2 ago, my group had no clue what was going on so it took forever. I couldn't imagine doing it in 20 minutes.

A lot of people have this experience at first when they start to explore it. Actually exploring and mapping the pit for the first time is much fun. I spent hours trying to make 3D maps, but I'm not too artistic.

If you prefer, you can learn from an old hand pretty quick instead.

Once you understand the quest, you can do it quickly. It's still loads of fun because of all the jumping and running around. And great xp.

I wait until level 8 to run the Pit and still spend close to an hour in there(killing everything) so 17 minutes is very impressive.

On soloing being faster, I find a hireling very useful for the 3rd furnace but my jumping skills aren't so hot.

Yes,

I have found a hireling useful as a teaching tool. When I am running with a group who want to learn the quest, I drag a hireling around to use a place marker and lever-puller.

You CAN solo 3rd furnace, but a hireling makes it much more reliable.

I don't know whether using a hireling is considered "soloing". I have heard people say, "I double boxed to solo Xoriat." So that means some people mean soloing is one player, you could be using several toons. Other folks consider using more than one toon not soloing, even if it's only one player.
