I'm new to DDO, coming from many years in WoW.

As a result of this and perhaps some other RPG's, I've developed a mentality that supports not worrying about what I'm wearing as I'll replace it soon during the levelling process.

I'm currently a level 7 Dex based rogue and I'm realizing that items and upgrades are certainly not coming as fast as I've grown accustomed to.

My levelling has been 50/50 split between solo and grouping with a friend and 2 manning what we can (with hirelings when need be).

My questions are:

1 - Should I concern myself with different item sets to suit certain scenarios? I'm aware of it being more of a necessity down the road during higher level content, but should I be fine for a number of levels?

2 - I'm in need of developing my crafting more, so in doing so, are their any recipes people find more useful than others. Again, this is a level specific question more than anything else, I realize that what suits a level 20 rogue is beyond my current needs

3 - Do quest rewards adequately keep up as I level? Will I find myself getting to a point where I need to seek alternative sources for itemization (grinding out dungeons for specific loot or crafting)?

I'd like to remain as general in my gear selection as possible, as jack of all trades as possible. Being new and experiencing it as I go, I'm not sure where I'd like to end up as a final product. I have in my head that I would like to be trap disable/lock pick heavy more than damage focused, but it may not be feasible when I solo.

I appreciate the shortcomings (and challenge) of the path that I'm following, so I'd like to know if I'm of the correct train of thought.

Thanks.

... coming from many years in WoW.We dont say that name around these parts :)

1: I say yes. My rogue is an Assasin build but I so swap lots of gear (shoes, goggles, etc) to either suit trapping or killing. For trapping I usually throw on a high SPOT item and then I switch to a high SEARCH item.

2: Cant Answer. Crafting is changing anyway so any answer could become wrong very fast.

3: The loot that you pull will suit you for a few levels, but then you will find something better. I have found that items that I found at level 7 still work for me at level 10. So you wont need to replace items every time you level up.

@2: You can certainly craft useful stuff, e.g. items of persuasion (UMD) or of battle skill (competence bonus to hit) are low level recipes useful for a rogue
@3: I'd say Auction House+Pawn Brokers are the easiest source of gear at this level, not dungeon grinding.
