I was running the shroud on my level 18 Wiz and before part 4 I was asked by the group leader to step back so that I don't get the Mass Death Ward, I was a little confused but I did as told. Is there something negative with DW on a caster in part 4 that I don't know about?
Also in a different Shroud run I noticed the Sorc was spamming Ice storm in the 4th and last fight, isn't he immune to Cold? Only reason I can think for this is the blunt damage but how damage could this be? You know you're addicted when these are the first thoughts you have in the morning when you wake up.

Harry has 30 cold resist (40/60 on Hard/Elite). Ice Storm does OK damage to him.
Deathward used to be terrible for Pale Masters to get. It's no longer an issue as they are now immune to DW while in forms. The leader probably assumed you were a PM and didn't know that change occurred.

Pre U9, it was an issue, PMs couldnt heal themselves with DW.
U9 made them immue to DW.
Harry immue to fire, not Ice (only some resist). Yet I agree the Ice storm is annoying.

If you've only recently started playing a Pale Master, you wouldn't really be familiar with the problem that DW used to cause. DW cast on a Pale Master used to make the wizard in undead form unable to heal him/her self. The problem is fixed now, and DW will not apply to a Pale Master who is in undead form.
The end boss in The Shroud is resistant, not immune, to cold damage. iirc it's 20-30 resistance for normal.

Death ward used to supress the death aura self-healing effect on pale masters while in undead form, but thats been fixed now so isnt an issue.
Harry isnt immune to cold, just has (iirc) 30 points of resistance so the remainder of the damage is still perfectly effective, particularly for a sorcerer who would likely have a whole raft of enhancements, capstone & potentially the savant PrE to boost it even higher.

When you'e doing high hundreds and thousands of damage per cast on a cold sorc, you don't even notice Harry's resistances among all the purple numbers.
The real issue is that the ice storm graphic can summon the lag monster, who could stall the healers long enough to cause a wipe. That's why it's seldom cast in a raid.

More specifically, Ice Storm causes players with low and medium end graphics cards to get a significant framerate reduction. Discoball does the same, but only for the low end.

Harry takes a very good amount of damage from various cold spells.
I use Polar Ray, the Niac's cold DoT (can hit for 200-ish a tick with three on him) and even Frost Lance. He also seems to take fair damage from Force and maybe Sonic (limited experience with those). What's even better about those three cold-based spells is that they do not add to lag.
