View Full Version : Things you like to link when someone links their gear in chat

Lets face it players like to link their stuff....A LOT! There are many reasons to link stuff ie: bragging, holy **** moments, this is all i got moments, finally got it after 1 year moments, showing examples, haha i got this and you dont moments and my personal favorite: "these are the best" when they are really not moments and the list goes on and on.
There is nothing wrong with this of course after all loot is a huge factor in this game so i will throw down a grats and the occasional pat on the back when its in order.
This is all fine and dandy but i have to give a shout out to the Spam Linkers and i know you know what I'm talking about. Ya know that one guildie that has to link everything all the time if not to post his 5th epically crafted item of the week or to try to better a previous link. When this happens its time for me to link some crappy item cause this is fun for me and it maybe a subtle statement but a good time never the less. So when this happens its time for me to link that trusty old master craft throwing dart or a bowl of murky water from the local tavern.
There are other times i might do this like when the pug nooblet links a pair of +1 seeker 6 handwraps of lesser undead bane in an elite wiz run i will have to link armor 4 bracers of mage armor or something. I'm still in search of an underwater action item rr Wf for these awkward moments and if i do find them i will be sure to link it:D
What do you link...

I love linking my Korthos aid bracers to the level 20's I just brought back from incap with it, who were bragging with their epic gear before.
They usually get pretty quiet after that. :D
I like to watch my guildie Ishy link... it usually goes something like this :I "epic item" Dont really "epic item" Have "epic item" too"epic item" much "epic item" gear "epic item" or "epic item" loot...He usually does this for a few sentences and most people stop linking back to him lol
I had 8 charged gauntlets scrolls at one point...I got some tells when i linked in the trade channel :D

i dont understand when people are discusing certain aspects of certain types of gear in party chat, and then they inclued the odd linked gear, then someone starts linking all their gear that has nothing to do with what the other people where talking about, and I dont mean funny stuff like muckbanes or what not but their actual serious gear, its like they want any chance whatsoever to flash themselves.

I do the same thing lol - I was a Crystal Cove wh*re, and not particularly proud of it, but yeah, it's fun to link that stuff sometimes.
Now that I finally pulled a Mysterious Bauble, I'll probably be linking that too (I lost count of the number of runs it took to pull THAT thing, but more than was good for my mental health ;) ). If I ever get a Torc, that will definitely be my default bragging item (for my blue-bar classes, at least)

I run in a mostly static guild/group. We've ransacked Weapons Shipment enough times for ingredients and whatnot that he's got himself a Mysterious Bauble on his barb. He likes to link that if anyone demands a link for a boss beater. Although we've all tried, no one has been able to pull a Ring of Spell Storing for him yet.

Depends on the situation.
I like to link - arrow, though last time i linked 9 arrows and someone trumped me with 11 :(
And yes i had the rusty longsword and mace from heytons, but had to trash them for space.
Have a returning Vorpal throwing Axe, that always seems to bring in 'oooo's and ahhh's ' though it is not as good since the nerf. (have a returning paralyzing dagger as well which is nice)
I don't link often, but if i do it's more for the 'this is what a conopp item looks like' or 'this is an unsupressed version' etc.
I don't begrudge people doing it, only when they go OTT that i start to link 'rubbish'.

this happened to me when i was playing whisperdoom last night. we were waiting on a healer - a rogue (me), a sorc, and 3 fighters who couldn't spell to save their lives. they were standing outside the quest entrance when one linked a +5 shock greataxe. then the other started linking a +2 frost dwarven axe. the the other started linking infested armour, and they all went into a tizzy linking their gear from chrono. the sad part is that some of the gear linked wasn't even stuff that a melee type would typically use (ie power VII trinket, when all you are is a straight fighter....).
i thought it pretty funny because this was the best these guys had, and they were level 12 or 13. bragging about a +2 frost dwarven axe? yeah, okay. you're soooooooooooo cool, i might as well just start fanning myself off now.
needless to say, at least two of them died in the traps, even though i called them out beforehand. nearly had a party wipe at the end fight. i guess all that uber swell gear couldn't protect them from a few blades and some acid.

Ah yes... the UA necklace of Water Breather RR WF, or the Proof against Poison necklace of remove poison, RR WF or the +3 Acid Dwarven War axe of Greater Dwarf Bane, RR Dwarf,.... all those are a riot when someone overzealous dip decides to start linking his newly crafted GS that he's been working on for the past 6 months or so... :D:D
I still have one of the old Dreamspitters on my monk that's BTC, non unsupressed. I like to throw that on out when ppl start talking bout how they finally got one of those... or I when someone starts braggin on how they finally looted a pair of Madstones..and I like my pair I have on my barb... (one used and one unused) :D

Using the German Client, but playing with English speaking players mostly, I usually link items with a long name. The items are written with their (sometimes silly) german names, but when you click on them, they get displayed in whatever language you are using for your client.
I usually do this to give some entertainment while doing Reaver's and it usually works, resulting in a vivid talk about languages in general, and that "Schl*ng" is not a german word at all, in particular.

Yeah, newbs shouldn't be allowed to have fun! Who do they think they are getting excited about their new, better, equipment when we all know that it's really just vendor trash from your TRs. Newb should live humble, stoic lives in perpetual awe of their betters.
And dying in a quest! All i can say, is "LOL NOOBZ!" Real DDO vets know that challenging yourself is for suckers, because all you need to do get your real UBER GEAR is to grind the same simple quests over and over. I wouldn't be surprised if they even had the gall to have fun despite dying several times; some people just have no respect for the solemnity of this game.
