I haven't been playing regularly for...well, quite a while, but did they change something recently with regards to bank mechanics? For example, I now notice that when removing items from the bank, if there is lag/delay, the item (#) will display grey if queued for removal. Perhaps I just never noticed it before...but I don't think so.
If this is new(..er), I'd assume its some attempt to reduce disappearing items...but it seems to be worse than ever now. If you queue multiple items for removal and encounter lag (and/or reclick the item), it's seems to be batting a 50% to eat your item with a Bank failed. msg. Used to be that was only a real danger during server backup time and getting impatient/logging off during delayed transfer.
There are also various ways to 100% eat your items -- some of these have always existed (stackable items in particular, bags as well w/ full inventory and/or bank slots). It amazes me after this long of it being a reportable, reproducable bug, Turbine has still failed to fix some of these and instead let players eat the losses.
I lost about 1k gold coins and a seal bag recently. Not a super big deal, but still annoying and I feel bad for those who are losing worse.
Things NOT to do with the bank:
- TR/Shared/Personal bank to bank transfers. Don't do it, take it to your inventory first.
- Do not queue up more than one item at a time. Wait until it finishes.
- Do not add/remove stackables/bags if your inventory or bank is full...or even near full. You'll lose the overflow.
- Do not move out of range of the bank NPC or close the window if you have a pending transfer.
- Do not log off until you are sure you have completed a bank transfer.
- Do not use the bank actively around the daily server back up time (which, last I checked, was around 2am PST).
Honestly Turbine, check the bug reports people send you. Take a break from the cash grab crafting scheme and fix some stuff.
