The updated 10.1 patch that REQUIRES Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragment
for crafting, requires tomes and epic tokens to get them. Astral diamonds also?
Think it was floyd who posted they wanted to keep cannith crafting available to casual and F2P.
First. I have noticed a severe dropoff on tomes dropping in the last few months. Numerous others have seen this as well. I have no doubt they are trying to push these to DDO store purchase only. So better keep all tomes that DO by slim chance drop anymore.because before long crafting will require purchasing from the DDO Store also note its the one item everyone includes in their builds and the cashcow for turbine.
Second, epic tokens? How are these by any strectch of the means available to casual or F2P?. Epic fail more like it.
Also seen eberron dragon shards can be turned in for the fragments also. Um. Out of 10 capped toons with almost maxxed favor on each, I have only every looted/picked up 1 of these. Yea that will work for casual F2P.
I almost forgot the yugoloth/favor turn ins being added as well. Casual maybe F2P now will be required to BUY adventure packs through the DDO store to do crafting. How the hell is this still available for F2P or casual?
Why are you making these cost additions for higher end items? Why not make all the cannith crafting BTC BTA. Remove the unbound shards. The high demand additions will not fix the problem. Just slightly slow it down and makes crafting even harder/more impossible for F2P or casual players.

If you want to make the best stuff you SHOULD buy something. Go work at McDonalds for a week and buy some turbine points.

Secondly, there is no 'conspiracy' by Turbine to make you buy tomes. It's luck that you pull a tome. It's always been luck that you pull a tome.

All those things are available to a F2P account. You don't have to spend $ to earn points. Spending $ is just an option. Acting as if it's a conspiracy that leaves you with no other option is dishonest. Besides, even if they are not dropping for you, buy them on the AH with the oh so easy to accumulate plat.

If your argument depends on pretending the scenario you describe is the only possibility it's not much of an argument.

Not according to the release notes posted this morning:

"A new ingredient called a Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragment has been added to some high level crafting recipes. These fragments can be obtained from a crafting vendor in exchange for Eberron Dragonshard Fragments. "

I guess the Eberron Dragonshard Fragments I have been hording have going up in price.

I didnt post conspiracy anywhere. I would say, stealth changes to loot tables. Its luck to pull any specific loot. But your luck% better go up greatly if you want to keep pulling tomes. Its the same as the devs slowly raising mob saves without posting it in any release notes. When the saves adjustment was first posted on the forums people make the same remarks about 'its not true' its not a conspiracy' yea yea .....but then I do believe one of the devs admitted to it some time later =)

Really casual players who craft a little bit from time to time will not even get their crafting levels up to the point where you need those special ingredients. Where crafted items begin to compete with raid loot (greater banes, etc) it's understandable that they want to make those properties more expensive to craft because the way it is now once you unlocked a recipe it's too easy to craft high level stuff repeatedly.

I actually pulled more tomes last life (Tr'd last week) that the previous 5, it's pure luck...

Work at McDonalds for one day would be enough. Or if you are in Germany, looking for empty beer bottles that you can turn into money :D

For me these "drop" "loot" "nerf" "craft" things, are very unimportant.
I just care for good content, no lag. Thats it.

I think it is much to easy to have good gear and to get tons of platinum.
Collaborator on Elite: 2 Greater Body in the final chest (cannot remember the others). You can get AT LEAST 1000 plat. For a 5 minutes quest. You do this 10-15 times and you may buy a +1 Int tome at the AH, for a bit more work a +1 Dex tome.

makes sense to me. the hardcore players can grind the tokens, and the casual players can buy diamonds from the store.

i always hear that the casual players are the ones that pay the bills at Turbine. so there should be no complaints about this

and a side note. unless the casual players want to make the really high end loot, then they wont even need to buy the diamonds in the first place

Why are you people wasting time typing in the forums? Get back to the crafting hall so the lazy players (me) can pay you all exorbitant amounts of plat and items to make high-end crafted items so I don't have to.

BACK TO THE GRIND, SLAVES!

Epic tokens? Epic is easy enough where casual players can grind a few of these out. Alot of these quests are less than 20 minutes each. Do 2 a night for a coupla weeks.

I think the whole store pay to win conspiracy theory needs to die down until theres a real pay to win issue. The problem I see with alot of the claims made is they arent really outlining a pay to win situation. Screaming bloody murder about it is like crying wolf. If and when they do try to make something really "pay to win" and it garners the same response, no ones going to want to hear it, if it has been the same arguement for the past year.

I do not think the crafting outlined in the specific current dev post is anywhere near as outrageous as it was going to be.
