let me say this now. i'm sorry i ever went to another game besides ddo
im having issues in uninstalling that game i get the "error 1306: another application has exclusive access to the file C:\Program Files\RIFT Game\riftpatch.0.log please shutdown all other applications ans then click retry"
I really don't care to play around in the log for the fear that im going mess this thing up beyond repair.
I'm currently running xp & everything i've found on google or yahoo is for me or older
hopefully you guys could help mellinum edition or older hopefully you can help me out on this one

i presume you're trying to delete the folder.
it's better to remove the program the way it was installed.
1. control panel
2. add/remove prgrams
3. select program and click remove
as long as it hasn't deleted some files when you tried to delete the folder it should be ok.

that's how i got the error. another thing, i downloaded another directx "update?"im thinking that might have something to do with it. but i have no idea where to start looking

Presumbly another process, most likely an explorer window is still open in that folder, or a RIFT startup process is still in the icon tray.
I would suggest stop those process(es) using the Task Manager; or reboot the computer if it is a process that does not start automatically; and then use the remove program from control panel feature.

but seriously, DDO has the best design philosophy behind it.
it's just a short, small, money-starved game, but it's still the best MMO since Everquest.

someone else pointed out that a process or file could be open in explorer causing this issue, especially if you are using Windows 7
if all else fails,try "file assasin" or " total commander"
