Besides keeping bound weapons and name. Are the TR feats worth it? Just a thought, don't need to get flamed.

You get 34pts build, you get a passive feat and a selectable active one (http://ddowiki.com/page/Past_Life_Feats).
Some builds will benefit more than others but all in all it's a nice step up, even more if you are coming from a 28pt build and if you TR into something that can benefit your past life feat(s).

If you TR from a Paladin you can run around(at lvl 1) with +5 Holy Burst Cold Iron weapons xD...but that's it
You are also physically larger in whatever race you choose to TR into...you get wings next to your name as well, both of these features make any TR seem like a pro to some adventurer xD
You also get extra build points (34 total on first TR for non-drow, 30 for Drow). The feats of are varying use depending on your new class, but the passive feats tend to be nice. The active feats tend to be less useful since you have to spend a feat on them, but some are very useful (see monk with the active PL: Monk feat, which increases unarmed damage dice).
Conversely, you gain no benefit from Vet status (you always start on the beach as a TR), the heart can be expensive and/or time consuming to get, and it takes longer to level up - you have to be a bit more careful with how you run quests at mid to high levels as exp gets scarcer.
In short: TRing grants some useful benefits, but can be time consuming to return to where you were.

TR'ing is a mechanism useful to keep players xp farming the game
this is especially good for newcomers who will join xp-starved grinders
so a good solution to keep ddo alive
for players it gives them some tiny advantages compared to their many efforts

Hmmm..benefits...
34 or 36 point build
Twink and raid loot
Greensteel from lvl 11/12
Passive Past life feats that stack
Blue aura ftw
Wings
Being a hero or a legend!
Currently my past life feats give me from lvl 1
+4 save vs traps and +2 sneak damage
+2 elemental resists and +2 bow damage
+1 to hit and tactical dc's
+1 damage
+5% healing amp
Is it worth it? Your call.

The active wizard past life is almost a must-have for wizards themselves. At least for those who want to max their DCs.

I've read this, but I am not so sure that I buy it. Holy Sword items disappear about 15 minutes after logout, and you cannot bank them. So as far as them going into TR cache..."screen shot or it didn't happen".
Note - I am more than happy to be proven wrong...might even TR my pally if this was the case. ;)

You know sometimes people don't make a big deal and SS things that MIGHT be a bug and MIGHT get fixed if silly people make a big fuss.

Well the only use the glitch has is spending those precious few hours after you TR totally owning the ka****er out of everything until you logout.....wouldn't be mad at all at some patch for it, but yes YOU CAN PUT HOLY SWORD WEAPONS INTO YOUR TR CACHE

The extra build points come in handy, as do the past life feats.

Is TR are worth it over creataing a new toon.?
I would say that really depends on what your end build is gonna be like and what you want him to do.
Like allready said before . The wizard and fvs free past life feats are freaking awesome, and on top of that the the "not free" past life wizard is indeed very very nice also.
Most of the other past lifes are really nice but wont benefit all builds. like if you havea fighter and want to make a wizard i would not TR. The +2 stat points you get are nice. but then i would rather make a new toon with a class where i can get use for the past life if i ever wanted to TR that toon.
OFC the completionsist feat is freaking awesome. but very hard to get. and if they bring in new classes. you will have to TR again. BUT a very very nice feat. ( tobad it aint a free feat though )
If i only have 1 lvl 20 toon i would not TR that one. i would make a new toon get that up to lvl 20. That way you will have a toon you can use to get a few plats, joinning the raids. doing epics and maybe even get some 20th completions to get +3 tomes or low ML items. for a TR.
Then when you have 2-3 lvl 20 toons i would consider what toon i would benefit most of TRing.
So in short if you have a few lvl 20 toons. And have a toon that need a bit of polish a TR can certainly be worth it IMO.

The benefits of the 34 vs 32 points and the past life thing are pretty minimal (except Wiz which someone mentioned earlier). The thing I like most about TRing, is that you don't have to grind the loot again. I play to level (I love to watch the levels fly by). I hate to grind loot. I just despise the Epic mechanic this game uses for loot (58 EDragons and no shard) so I just don't do it anymore.
If you love to level and play the game from 1-20, TRing is the way to go. At lvl 11 and 12 when you pick up your greensteel stuff, you're like a DDO god! :D

I'm pretty sure I didn't level 1-20 without loging out at least 15 mins.

I'm trying to make the same decision myself. I have a nearly level capped barbarian, but he's a 28 point build and his first 6 or 7 levels were following a pre-made path. I was about to Greater Reincarnate him, but then I thought about it a minute and decided I might as well just get him to 20 and TR.
The hardest decision is whether or not I should just hit 20 and TR or try to make greensteel gear and then TR. So far, all my mid-level characters haven't had any real problems with gear, although some are harder to juggle the needed stats and abilities into the available slots than others. The mid level named gear seems quite powerful as well. Plus, with the new crafting system, while I don't personally bother, I imagine I could get something custom made if I really needed it.
Yet, I've heard many times how powerful GS items are, even in this very thread. So I wonder if it would be foolish to TR before spending some time getting some GS gear. Which then raises the question, how long would it take to get?

I really didn't think I'd bother TRing... it sounds like such a grind. I didn't think the past life feats/points were really worth it and hated the thought of flagging raids again.
But the last XP boost weekend, the hubs and I decided to buy a couple hearts of wood and just get a TR done... and it's really been fun. I haven't felt like the XP was just a drain on the enjoyment of the game at all.
We went from 1-10 pretty much that first weekend and haven't had a chance to play those toons again lately but I'm looking forward to it. (I don't want to outlevel him and he hasn't had time to play lately.)
On the TR, I know more about what I'm doing, where I'm going, how to play this toon and I've got some more powerful abilities... so what's not to like? I'm not jaded and bored with everything like maybe a multiple TR would be, it's all still a trip.
Don't TR your first character unless you have another capped one. Running with other lowbies can burn you out easily

IMO they are worth if you are building your ultimate toon (or just running several lifes since like the whole way up) with some stacking plan. For example running various casters with at least one wizard life is nice increase of power.
However if you just want to swich from melee to caster, then better use other slot, since the TR xp grind could be painfull.
