From description...

Imbues all missiles that you fire with incredible power, granting them the Slaying ability, which will deal 500 damage to a living target on what would be a vorpal attack

why does it work on undead and golems?

500 Untyped damage, not like the divine spell.

I believe "living" is more of a euphamistic term here, where "living" = "You and your party hasnt' stomped this enemy into negative hitpoints yet"

That or it is one of a hundred misnomer/typo/misleading/just-plain-wrong texts in the game.

But yes, the actual effect of the Slayer Arrows is 500 bonus untyped damage on a natural 20 roll with any bow, regardless of the target.

It works because lowering the amount of damage an AA can do with his bow is like stealing a homeless man's box.

If they ever remove the stupid restriction that says Race PrE can't be taken if you have a Class PrE of the same catagory, I'd be annoyed with a conversion from untyped to negative like the monks got hit with, but I'd deal.

Why? Then I could combo deepwood sniper with AA.

But it is really stupid to have that block. Kensai AA. Emm... pretty powerful already and allowed. Granted WF Jugernaut (barb) and Kensai (fighter) would be allowed under current rules. Players will do that one often.
