Yeah, the two recipes are very similar, so it's easy to make this mistake. On the plus side, it's a good learning experience.

Learning seems to cost more and more these days. I could have lived without knowing this information.

Due to the lack of well.... any Great crossbow users your going to be hard pressed to find someone to make that trade. If i were you i would turn it into a positive 2 to get the raise clickie out of it. It may not be what you wanted but wont be a complete waste of the ingredients.

Yes, I suppose that is an option. Failing that, I could always take the feat, I'm a fighter so I get oodles, and use it as my ranged weapon. But then, that would be more useful that just vendoring the thing.

Or just craft a clickie on it (haste, raise dead, stone skin or displacement). I personally bought a gs great crossbow for a lot less then you're asking to eventually put a clickie on.
