Hey, Cannith! So I recently respecced as a Thief-Acrobat just to try it out, after being an Assassin for the entire life of my character. I don't have many decent quarterstaves, but I've been using Dreamspitter, Rahl's Might, and Nature's Vengeance (a greater aberration bane staff from the new quest line) and generally switching to my Vorpal/Smiting/Radiance Green Steel when I actually need to do damage. For the most part the Acrobat-Thief line seems a little bit underwhelming, but the immunity to Xyzzy's overrun was definitely one of the perks I was looking forward to the most, since I don't have a big raiding guild (it's made up exclusively of friends from real life) so I end up doing raids in PUGs, and nobody ever wants to tank in PUGs, so in the past I've pulled it off with about 500hp and my trusty Madstone Shield, as well as a solid fog clickie or two.
Anyway, tonight I was sort of excited to try out my overrun immunity on Xyzzy, and instead of grabbing my solid fog clickie or bumming one off another party member, I grabbed 50 greater vials of seafog which I'd recently acquired off the auction house for exactly this purpose. Predictably, nobody wanted to tank, so I volunteered.
Long story short - I couldn't keep her aggro. I had subtle backstabbing off, and managed to keep aggro on her and the pups for the first thirty seconds or so, but after that she went for one of the clerics and I wasn't able to get it back very well. I was glad to see that I wasn't overrun even once :) and the clerics did a great job of staying alive, so it could have almost been salvaged (except for the fact that someone who didn't quite know what they were doing grabbed the stones =x ekkk).
So anyway - first of all, sorry to anyone who was on that raid. Second of all - what was I doing wrong? I was hitting with the vials, the solid fog was going everywhere, I had no aggro reduction on, nobody else was doing anything to her, and I couldn't keep her aggro. My main guess is that it was the Vials of Seafog - could someone confirm that they don't work? I'd like to try it again with a clickie, but if there's something else going on, I don't want to screw it up again... Keep in mind that I've successfully held her aggro with a clickie before, and while it was before I respecced my character, I don't think anything too relevant changed...
