This particular thread is for the web content feedback on our upcoming Fighter 101 guide. For feedback and suggestions concerning in-game systems, please see Gameplay & Systems feedback (http://forums.ddo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=180).

As to not get the other topic off track.

Is there any plan to redo the premade character paths? I'm sure a huge amount of us gimped our first character due to this. It is one of the first things a new player (customer) sees on booting up DDO. They create a new guy, use DDOs suggested paths, and when they start to figure out the game, they realized they are now busted, and not worth playing to end game.

I'm sure that turbine has lost customers, and income, due to this. Why is it not fixed?

Tihocan has done the majority of the heavy lifting (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=232660) and has left it in turbines hands for over a year, with no fix.

FordyTwo is putting some nice effort into the 'how to' series to build characters. There is no reason for the premade paths to go against everything s/he is trying to do with this info.

I think crappy pre made paths are kind of a MMO staple. I've never played a game where the pre made paths weren't complete garbage.

Keep em crappy I say!

The only way you can help newbies to feel comfortable playing this game is to finally revise and FIX all CLASS PATHS! And that does mean that for every class all PrEs are fully implemented so that the chosen path actually matches the description. These 101 documents aren't a good start IMHO - they are more an intro to multiclassing and/or custom character creation.

I do as instructed by Fordytwo. I'd rather have a path that works and later tinker with a class than having a guide for custom builds. When I first started playing this game, I didn't know anything about it and went straight for a path. Seriously, if class paths have useless feats, give low hp, useless spells and so on, it should be fixed or newbies might be rejected from playing when they see their character on a certain path underperforming and where experienced players say: go read forums for custom builds. Why chose a path in the first place if it's like this?!

My first soon was hopeless gimped by the pre-made path, and I was forced to abandon him as a result.

Id have to agree, either remove the option for pre-made paths, or redo them, there is even a long detailed "re done" pred made path thread in the custom builds section of the forum!

When new players enter, they see big, shiny, almost god like benevolence called "pre made path!", with this, they dont need to worry about gimping themselves! they will be absolutely fine with any of the astutely chosen paths. Except they wont, they usually end up with a functional at best character, with some of the builds actually being kind of gimpy.

It is a big problem that the very sort of player these appeal to the most will be the ones that are most unable to tell if what the path is giving them is useful or not :/

anyone have any idea how difficult re vamping pre made paths would be?

It's a lot of work. Many feats give low bonuses - like bullheaded or Iron will... Why are those even there? Then there are unfinished PrEs, like Deepwood Sniper for Ranger class. I mean, the description is nice, but it's only tier 1. :P

They will never revise paths until full PrEs are implemented and that won't be for a few years. :p
