Time for a new server?

I have been VIP since the beginning. Lately, I have noticed an increase in server full messages.

I feel it is time to add a server or two.

Thoughts?

they should have a server that resets every month or three. kinda like diablos ladder system, would allow people to build from the ground up to see how far they get/enjoy feeling of new old game

It's a bug that pops up from time to time where when people attempt to log on, it refuses connection and states that the server is full, even if it is not. Turbine can't seem to find a way to permanently fix it.

And every time it happens, a host of threads pop up, usually with VIPs going all Lord of the Flies on F2P folks. :P

I'm Premium and I've only ever seen that once in my whole time here. A VIP should never see that message though.

I got that message yesterday for the first time in the 8 months that I had been playing. I thought it was a bug when I saw that the Marketplace only had 2 instances.

On another note, i would love to see a VIP / Premium only server. I dont know how it would work with the Premium side. I have all the packs (minus the new one), and I would love to play on a server that catered to people with either VIP status or all of the packs.
It would be a great incentive to get more people buying packs.

I've definitely never seen that on Cannith. I actually wish there was server consolidation, instead -- I'd like to have more players and more groups available. Merging Cannith and Orien seems nice, for example.

Orien is getting the Server Full messages as well.

A new server might fix a lot of the lag if its being caused by player related calculations. Adding another world to play on should remove some stress from the other worlds. I'm all for it.

Adding another server will only increase the wait times for RAID's to fill. Why would you want that?
Lag started post U9. They are working on it. Doubt it has anything to do with population since I don't see much of a population on argo and cannith.

That's the false error. The server isn't actually full. If it was really full, you'd have seen a waiting timer or something like that.

Servers were *consolidated* about a year ago, iirc, so if I were you, I certainly wouldn't be holding my breath while waiting for them to add a new one.

In fact, if they do anything with the servers at all, it needs to be the replacement/upgrading of Thelanis and Khyber to the same (or better) hardware being used for Cannith and Orien.

Some people can't hang with the awesomeness that is Khyber. It's ok to admit you aren't strong enough.

About server full message...

Until yesterday I do not even remember seeing it before (maybe in dec'09 when f2p was still new, but really unsure).

Yesterday though even I had it once after client reset (I tend to close the client when I switch chars due to hickups I got since U9) and quite a few guildies were complaining too. Never had that before.

Maybe they lowered the threshold to try to lower lag? (though it didn't look like it worked)

The only reason I mentioned VIP, is I thought we have preferential treatment regarding access to servers.

I was also unaware of this being a bug.

new servers? I agree we do need new top of the line, omg my spell went through and the whole group didnt just hit a 20 second lag spike.

Get those puppies in here, copy all the data from the old server onto the shiny new, jiggawatt servers and lets get this ball rolling.
