The Beergirl & I woke up this morning on day 2 of a 4 day weekend looking at each other going what do you want to do today after we lift & run. The normal reply is let's go online & geek out. After working out we look at the lake, and the water is glass. Now we're like, what a perfect day. Do we really want to waste it geeking out? We could put the big boat out on the water and hang out on a beach, or put the bass boat out and go fishing. The verdict. Screw DDO let's get the dog & go fishing. The results? A perfect day on the water. Other than I lost every bass I hooked into so I got skunked.

We get back home and debate. Order a pizza so we can geek out or grill some Mahi Mahi and watch the sunset. Fish tacos win out and we get to watch one of the most perfect sunsets over the water in I don't know how long.

So the moral of the story. For those of us who have been geeking out non stop. Step away from the mouse and keyboard and find something to break out of the rut. What a great day! I would have missed it all if I typed in my PW and logged on. I love my DDO, but I'm so glad I didn't log on. Even if I got skunked fishing I still had fish tacos. :) It was a very pleasant break from the grind. For the folks who are in a DDO rut and grind like we've been in. Step away for a bit you'll be happy you did.

I broke my distal fibula back on May 6th while hiking Tempe Butte (A Mountain). No more going outside without a big plastic boot for 3-4 months. Dosent matter anyway, it will be 115* outside in about 4 weeks. Hiking the desert is the only real fun I have outside, especially now that I can easily visit some of the mountains south of Anthem. I used to love hiking South Mountain, but now thats like an hour away, lol.

LOL Eric, I think you took the good route considering what happened with the Khyber Hamster Rage-quitting for some part of Saturday. At least you and Beergirl did something constructive, my guild mates and I made level 1 toons on Argo and made a guild called Khyberian Rejects, played for about an hour, guild level 6 ^,^ bored out of our minds.

We're neighbors. I live in Havasu. Sorry to hear about the fibula. Get well & get out. Yes the hot weather is just arounf the corner which is what made it so nice. It didn't break 95 today not the norm for June.. We're usually well over 100 by now.

That's on my list. The Beergirl & I were actually planning a trip to Mazatlan yesterday and I was pricing charter boats for Marlin & Mahi. We have 2 weeks off here in 10 days so we're hooking up the bass boat and doing a socal bass fishing trip on a bunch different lakes. Or it's Mazatlan for the big ocean fish and a ton of drinking by the ocean. Still haven't decided. If we don't go to Maz now we're going to go in December and do our Xmas shopping at the same time.

We have had a bit of rough weather in el paso the last couple days.

Winds kick up enough dust to turn the sky brown. Then the storm clouds rolled in right after.

Lots of lightning and maybe 12 minutes of hard-as-Hell desert rain, then back to muggy and over 100.

I'm enjoying the **** out of portal 2 atm, with brain breaks here and there.

Glad you had a fun day Eric.

hah! Just did the TR tango on my clr. Sorta. 20 clr is nice, clr past life is not. Used lesser hearts of wood and turned her into an 11 wiz / 9 clr. Even you wouldn't believe the people that kept asking me what kind of mindset I was in when I made that build.......

So yeah about a week ago, TR. IF you EVER TR into a caster get that amazing eternal wand of magic missile from the catacombs chain. It is stupid, level 1 potency 2 item with 50 rechargeable goes of caster level 3 MM.

Basically from levels 1-4 i only used my sp to heal myself with repair spells... and maybe blur. I like to low level melee like anyone else, this just made it unnecessary.

Sounds like a great day :) We planted a flower/vegetable garden this year so it gives us a good reason to spend time outside and away from the computers. The weather's been beautiful so we've been sitting outside a lot and having fires in our little tabletop burn pit, and actually enjoying our neighbors' company. We also plan on spending some time at my bro-in-law's property this summer, he's got a small fishing pond and lots of land for the kids to run around.

Ok, now I'm jealous.
Why? (listed in order)
1. You have a boat
2. Your girl plays MMO's
3. You were at a beach that isn't 22 degrees.
4. It's not raining constantly where you were.

I feel for you bro. I hate the cold more than anyone on the planet. Give me 130 degrees over ice and snow anyday of the week. It rarely hits 130 here but 125 is very comon and 120 is the norm from July until mid September. I'm fine with that over a cold, windy, wet day, every time.

P.S. I'm assuming even if you wanted a boat it would be futile due to the cold and rain. You'd never enjoy using it.

Then a week ago my son broke his leg, and I am stuck home with him for next several weekends. No diving for lobster for a while. :(

Look at the See who you're talikng to on the Khyber thread. We put up 2 different posts of multiple shots of the crew in Havasu drinking on the river. We're old and don't look exactly like we did in our 20's but we're still fighting to stay close & keep up and with the young ones. Some of the pics might be a couple of years old but we still look the same if not better. Just not as good as when we were in our 20's. Age will do that. I wouldn't trade what I have for youth ever. I never want to be young and poor enough to live off of Top Ramon and Del Taco again. Terrible times other than the good friends and a good wife.

ive never been fresh water fishing all ive done is salt water, big game fishing marlin, tuna, mahimahi, wahoo. giant trevally, netting, spear fishing. Its good out in the south pacific islands of cook islands and samoa and here in NZ. I remember when if we didnt catch anything no dinner :P.

One thing you have to expriance is a big work up? where you have massive bait balls, bait fish and sea birds all over the place, big fish jumping and all the reels screaming.

maybe you need to try other types of fishing? rod and reel is not the only type of fishing there is. You can also try spear fishing or even bow fishing if you want to go after the fish and not wait for them to jump on your hook. Also diving for crayfish and lobster. I guess it depends on where you live and what you have access to.

yeah using a chainsaw to open your fridge is effective as well.

We have had a problem with people using dynamite, poisens and other destructive fishing methods, they pretty much destroyed the reef and the ecosystem. You end up killing a lot more than you take and ruin it for tommorrow.

Oh, yes, sometimes it goes like that.
A while ago I had a few days off work and decided to go on a trip with my wife. After a small debate we decided to leave our laptops home and enjoy the sea (it was winter, it was very cold, that's how we enjoy the seaside). It was a very pleasant trip, I didn't miss DDO or anything.

Other times it goes like...
Not long ago I took a few days off work. One of those sunny days we decided to go downtown for the opening of an art galellery (my wife is a painter, she likes that kind of things), then we would have had dinner at our favourite chinese restaurant.
But they moved the opening day, d'oh! And the sun disappeared and it started raining. Badly. And the restaurant was closed for renovation. And my wife broke a heel of her favourite boots, so she was b****ing all the way back home.
And I wondered why, oh why didn't I just stay home and play DDO until I passed out?!

Compared to the bass boat which is only 19' with a 200 hp outboard it's a big boat others may not think so but I'm only using it inland so its big enough. It's a 30' Kachina Drone with a 500 hp I/O. Not the biggest or the smallest where I boat here on the Colorado river in Lake Havasu. But the bass boat is way too smal to cruise around out here on the weekends during the summer. The chop on the river/lake on a Saturday from other boat wakes is easy 2-4 feet. The bass boat can handle it my old body can't.

Right on, Yea i got 27' Baja Boss w/502mag 495h/p myself. Same, for the river around here (Omaha, NE) it's just fine. Try to get to the Ozarks as much as we can tho.

I was jut about to ask where you go boating at. I hear Ozarks is the equivalent of what it's like out here. The Beergirl and I want to get out there and see one day. Your boat is pretty much the same size as mine (Baha makes a nice boat btw) How does it hold up on a busy day on the Ozarks? Would I be ok?

I keep saying one day I'm going to post a pic of it in the see who your talking to thread. It looks like it is straight from a D&D fantasy book cover. The sides are a painted mural of two half naked chicks mounted on red and whit dragons wielding swords in skimpy armor fighting each other. It truly shows how much of a D&D nerd I really am.

That was a fun little training climb from saturday. Trying to get a few high altitude acclamatization workouts done in prep for this Thursday nights summit push. (weather window permitting).

If its a go I'll post some pics.

That's bad ass but no way are you getting me out in that snow. Stick with it if it makes you happy that's all that matters. Think of how you are going to feel when you reah that summit and the goal you've been training for. That's freaking great.

A few pics of the summit run, as promised.

Left base camp at 1am, summit at 7:15am and back to base at 10am.

The steel cliffs at sunrise.

Devils kitchen on the way up - pretty cool active fumaroles. Stinks of sulfur though.

The minute I saw the updated thread with your name I was hoping it was going to be pics of your climb. Very nice, glad to see you got to accomplish it and that you came back safe. Congrats on your achievement.
