View Full Version : PLEASE remove the timer from the crafting tables?

I have 114 Greater Fire essences and 6 lessers. I'd like to turn about 60 of my greaters into lessers.
And between every click the button greys out for 4 seconds.
Nothing like sitting at my desk mindlessly clicking a button for 4 minutes straight. Just to transmute essences.
The cove and mabar interfaces didnt have delays, please remove it from crafting?

So /signed!!!
This added delay is ridiculous and strongly smells of an imposed (and very not fun) time sink.
EDIT: Edited after the helpful remark of my acutely perceptive colleague, Musouka (he even got a +1). :D

well, I can see why there is a timer. Otherwise if we were mass hitting the buttons we could EASILY overload the DB and any scripts/cron jobs/etc that are run with/for crafting.
I would LOVE to see this down to maybe 1 second per crunch (if at all possible) AND to allow us to crunch multiples of the same shard.

I've been converting lessers into greaters. It takes twice as long since you have to craft 100+ lowest level shards, and then deconstruct those shards into essences again.

So you are saying crafting is the cause of U9 lag? :D
The timer dosent bother me, but I mostly do my crunching in the morning when I dont have enough play time to actually run a group. On that note, my wilderness only character has not seen a lot of love lately.

My opinion on this is that they COULD do this with no ill affect, but what motivation do they have?
I mean, they currently sell +15% crafting xp pots that last for a set amount of time (15 minutes I believe ) for dirt cheap in the store.
This provides a nice, under the radar revenue stream that they hope players dont put 2+2 together on.
I mean as it stands now, at a 4 second delay between crafting crunches, they limit just how much benefit you can gain by buying that small XP boost. If they increased the speed at which crunching occurred, then players would get more value for that TP spent which means less profit for Turbine.
I firmly believe the 'crunch time' is directly related to the fact that they sell an (small time frame window) XP enhancement potion that lasts for a very short while. And they price it so low, you wont think much about what your spending vs what your getting.
There incentive is to keep you standing there as long as possible so you get frustrated and spend TP hurrying up the process (but not too much)....

This is a devious trick!
+1 to you for figuring out their nefarious scheme and getting the word out.

...and for that matter, anyone see a reason not to include a crtl+click to select the amount of greaters we want to transmute and just have that amount x5 lessers created in ONE click?

idea to allow doing multiple actions in one click: also /signed twice

Granted, but now the lag is 5 times worse.
At least.
(Seriously, do you think they'd put a delay there if they could get away with not doing it?)

Giving people more value for the TP spent gives them more incentive to spend it, not less. I don't really understand the argument that they're trying to boost item sales by deliberately making those items less useful. That would only hurt those sales.

The delay isn't a big deal for Shroud crafting since you only have to click it a few times in order to do whatever Shroud stuff you want to do.
The delay isn't a big deal for the Stone of change because you don't have to do all that much in the Stone of Change to get what you want.
The delay is a very big deal in the crafting altars, because you can end up using the crafting tables hundreds of times in one sitting.

Which is exactly why the delay is there: so that the servers have time to process everything else besides hundreds of players hammering the craft button.

If the 4s timer is there to prevent further lag, then please make it break down exactly that many greaters one puts there with one click. The sundering is one of the major reasons I'm slacking off with crafting.
In any case, /signed,

Make it shorter, or make it so that we can crunch stacks of essences. This 4-5 seconds for a single crunch is my biggest beef with crafting.

I don't care about the timer, just let me crunch multiple items at the same time. Let me drag five items into the cruncher, give me my options for which essences I can select, and let me crunch them all at once.
Let me craft multiple shards at the same time.
If I have enough materials to make four of the same shards, let me make four at once, not click.... wait... craft... click... wait... craft... click... wait... craft... click... wait... craft...

I don't even understand why you just can't put in a stack and only click once. If you got a variable amount for each Greater Shard I could see why. But you always get 5 Lesser for 1 Greater so, having to click 60 times for a stack is 60 is just plain stupid, with or without the timer.

They want us to have time to enjoy the animation and sound that goes with the crafting.
...and it was cute. The first thousand times. Now I'm tired of both the animation and the sound.

While I agree that the cool should be at least shorten, please remember that the new crafting system is still in beta. They are still working out the bugs and making changes.

I don't mind the delay so much, I mind doing it one at a time. When I give money for sweets I don't buy them one at a time, I buy a packet, same for most other things.
Let me crunch them in increments of 10 and 100. That goes for shards (construction and decon), and transmuting. The one at a time is daft especially considering how much of a grind it is to just level the crafting.
They made the khyber/siberys shards crunchable in stacks, do the same with essence please.

and the @#$^%#@$^!#$^!#$^!#$^!@#$ noise the craft machine makes anytime someone uses it.
once was neat. 10,000 times is getting real annoying now.
