Lesser Reincarnation

Hopefully someone can help me. I used a heart of wood item to lesser reincarnated my fighter and everything seem to work all the way up until I get to the create button. When I try to create him it says I can't use my name, that I have to change it. So when I do it doesn't recreate my character. Please can someone help me or am I doing something wrong, like missing a step

There should be a reincarnate button next to your character's name in the character selection screen.

Yes I see that part, but after going through the process of recreating my character and at the end. I click on the create button and it says my name is invalid and it wont let reincarnated my character.

Do you have a dash or any other non standard character in your name or surname?

I had an old character who I did a server transfer on. The transfer appended a -1 to the name, as someone had the name on the destination server already, and I was unable to reincarnate until I used my free name change to choose a new name. I was getting that same error.

Yes I do have a dash in my surname. So now I can't reincarnated my character. That sucks cause I just wasted turbine points. How can I fix this?

You should be able to still log in, I think applying the heart works a bit like getting a rename - you're just credited for it when you decide to do it. So you should be able to login, apply the rename to get rid of the dash, and then log back out and attempt the reincarnate.

Well I tried to do what you said to do and it says I have no slots to create my character...

How do you get the free name change?

Free name changes are available to anyone who had their characters name changed when the servers merged, several years ago. Everyone who had their name changed to something like Superstar-Khyber have a free rename token. Nothing will tell you that you have this token available to you, but you still have it, the way to get your name changed is via the /changename <insert new name here> command.

People who paid to got a character transferred to another server and had a -1 after their name should also have a free rename token.

Yeah but you have to pay for a name change. I think it sucks cause when I created the character they should have said something about the dash in my surname. Also I heard they can't change the surname and thats where the dash is at. So what do I do now?

Log in, type /help, scroll down and find the character rename command (I don't remember its but not the surname one), rename your character, log out, reincarnate.

Oh I think I know what you're saying, but I didn't acquire the dash in my surname. When I created my character for the first time it let me insert the dash in my surname...

Iirc, I've never had to use the create button when using a lesser reincarnate. Isn't there a reincarnate button to the right of the character's name?

Yes there is, I was saying when you're going through the creation process and after you are done changing your looks it asks to click on the create button and thats when it says my name is not allowed.

If you don't have a rename token and the game won't accept your current name with a reincarnate, open a help ticket in game.Most likely they will either fix you, issue you a rename token (They do it all the time for people with naughty names), or have you open a ticket on the DDO website for customer service to refund your Turbine points. Most likely they will just give you the rename flag though because they want your money for this lesser, the next TR, etc on that character ;) .
