I figure this is WAI, but if you haven't actually crafted anything with your shards the actual items you make will be bound to character when you put the shards on the craftable item. So much for making anything beyond a +5 craftable item on an alt until there is unbound crafting.

The Shards of Potential are Bind to Account you know.

Shards are supposed to be bound to account now, however crafted items are intended to be bound to character.

Essentially this means you only need one character that crafts.

I thought that after the patch crafted items were BTA instead of BTC. It seems to me that if you use a BTA shard in a (any craftable- non bound) item, the crafted item should be BTA not BTC. Did I misread the patch notes?

The distinction needs to be clarified, apparently:

The SHARDS are BtA, the crafted ITEMS are BtC.

You can still twink your toons like you planned, and at higher ML's than 5.

It only takes Crafting level 1 to assemble shards to items, so ANY toon can do it.

Trade the shards and items to the characters you want to bind them to.

I didn't look closely at the shards of potential, but I thought when I crafted them it said bound in the machine message, but I'll have to check next time I make one. I still think it's silly. Why not just make crafted items bound to account if you are just going to pass to your other toon anyway.

That's what i'm sayin.....

Because they do not want you to use them same item among several different toons?

Seems logical.

They really really want you to buy more storage space, apparently.

I'm happy it's like this. Crafting already devalues a lot of low to mid level named gear.

I think that's a bit pessimistic. I'd think it's about game balance (see above).

Like what? Be excruciatingly specific. The crafted items I've seen have had ridiculously high ML on them.

I have a lootgen +1 acid greataxe of pure good which is RR Human and ML:2.
I also have a lootgen +2 Shocking Burst Icy Burst Greatsword of Pure Good, ML:6

What can you craft which is better than these?

First: your Shocking burst Icy burst of PG is not loot gen, but crafted via Risia ritual

Second: u can add several effects to weapons u didnt see on lootgen ones, only on named loot , like Vampirism, Unholy, Stench, Unbalancing, Aligned

And I will add icy burst to the greataxe when Risia becomes available again.

So what?

Even without Icy Burst tacked on, those are better weapons with a better ML than crafting provides.

Perhaps you're vague on the definition of "excrutiatingly specific"? Not listing any SPECIFIC items makes me lean that way about you.

Fixed that for you, they took vampirism out of the shard recipes yesterday.
