I witnessed a caster cast Otto's Sphere of Dancing, dance some mobs then charmed a few and they stopped dancing immediatley and fought the enemies who were not charmed and still dancing, in Made to order. Granted they were Dwarves but still...........

This may be too powerful. They should still be dancing IMO, after being charmed, and get the normal saves even if charmed to break out of it.

Is this an issue or was it because they are Dwarves who get a special circumstance against spells?

This is the first time I have seen this and it is a great tactic, but might be considered cheesy.

Hats off to the caster who used this tactic btw. I think it is cheesy IMO, only if it affects all mobs. If I am wrong then leave the Under Dark Dwarves to themselves.

Thanks.

My first instinct as to why that happened is that once a monster becomes charmed, it's considered part of your party, similar to a summon. Offensive spells cast by your party members don't effect your part, so as soon as the monsters became part of the party through being charmed, they were no longer susceptible to the effect of the dancing sphere.

Recently, I fired a mass suggestion when someone was tossing up a dancing ball and you just ended up with dancing charmies. Maybe it was a just a one time error.

they had hostiles to target, and once the ai makes them see hostiles to attack post charm they become immune to party hostile effects. if they were standing in a wall of fire, all mobs got charmed leaving nothing to aggro on after the charm effect, they would merrily stand in the wall of fire taking damage. as soon as something they could attack comes into range it stops.

only place exlusive of this i know of are places on timers for spawns, like weapons shipment, where charming the mobs immediately as they spawn up top, and leaving them nothing to aggro on, the mobs would die immediately when the charm wore off or after a short duration, with no damage dealt at all.

both have been noted as bugs before.
