Newb wizard needs help

OK, so i joined a epic chrono group a bit ago, and it went bad. I told the leader I was a newb and it was my first epic, and I didn't know what I was doing, before I joined, they let me in anyway. We got to the first boss just fine, I feel like I'm carrying my weight, killing stuff n buffing, then we pause to make a plan for boss. Leader starts talking, when someone says, basically, no your doing it wrong, may I take over? Leader says yes. This person doesn't know I am not up to par with everything, or as good as they needed (also I am only arcane, which I found out was BAD), and their plan is to tank bloodplate, everone else kill armorers, and i am to CC everything. now, being a slow typer I can't tell them that's bad before the engagement starts... needless to say raid wipes and blames me. I can understand where their coming from, as my info was in a tell to the leader and not in party chat. Not going to ask who's to blame or anything as that is a stupid thing to do IMHO, but I would prefer to not be blacklisted.

What I am going to do is ask how I can improve my CC for epics.. what gear should I collect? I am a pale master, with the full force enhancement line. i normally use neg levels to make stuff fail my saves.. however applying them fast enough seemed to be a problem. I currently (with ship buffs) get a int of 41, I have spell focus and greater spell focus only in necromancy, and this is my first life. Please let me know what I should be after. Also any advice about spells to prepare, and situations to use em in specific to epics would be appreciated.

Don't worry about it too much. Solo casting in eChrono can be quite a challenge, and on your first run, a very big challenge. You need to just make sure you are doing everything to max your DC's in Necromancy and usually one other spell focus area for CC.

Personally, I like web. A lot! So I will try to get conjuration as high as possible. Get an epic docent or robe of diabolist from chrono for +3 to web dc's. Get a Death's touch from mindsunder and unsurpress it in dreaming dark for +2 to necro dc's. Get your tod ring and put exc int +2 on hit for higher dc's.

Then in chrono cast lots of symbols of death, circles of death and energy drains and wail away. Spam webs as needed and kite trash through it that won't die. You will get the hang of it after a few runs. Good Luck

I think the party shouldn't have gone on until everyone said they were ready. That just seems like a smart rule for almost any quest unless its a zerging under-level favor run.

Web seems to have gotten a rather serious boost lately.

In doing one of the Vale quests on Elite, I found that my Wizard could not ignore Webs like I was used to doing and spent a great deal of time helpless when I tried to do so. I have a low STR score (I think it's 12) and the saving throw was a STR check every 6 seconds or so. I found myself failing on a roll of anything less than 17 on a d20. Maybe that has always been the case, at least on higher quest difficulties, but I cannot recall having to do that.

Assuming that mobs are subject to the same rules that players are (a big assumption, I know), then I'm thinking that Web might be about to see a massive increase in useage.

I found that Hold Monster, Mass was just as effective- which is very- as always. Love that spell.

Otto's Sphere of Dancing (aka "Disco Ball") was iffy with about a 40% success rate. After trying it a couple of times, I went back to Hold Monster, Mass.

Greater Shout- the stun portion (6 seconds) did seem to work although the mobs seemed always to save versus the damage portion.

I think those were the only ones I tried.
