Is there a particular audio setting that leaves party voice as the dominant sound while still hearing other things slightly?
What settings do you find to be best for this?

Personally, I turn Voice Volume up to about 90% and Sound Effects to around 1% to 5%... Then use the master volume from there.

Yeah, I run with voice at 100 percent and everything else at about 10 percent. That seems to put voice chat at about the same level as most people on my Vent server, although I do have to turn down some of them.

I like to keep my voice volume loud enough for that one guy to explode my ears with his music or obnoxious shouting, but quiet enough that that one guy sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher.
...That probably didn't help, did it?
Music : off
Sound Effects : 2
UI : 2
Voice : 100
Also make sure you have level balancing shut off on your sound card or it won't matter what you set the in-game levels.

After setting everything except Master Volume to 5-10% and turning up your headset accordingly, make sure there's nothing running the background which will suddenly cause other sounds to play. It is very bad for your ears.

Mater Volume: 100%
Voice: 100%
Music, effects, UI: 0.01%
Under Windows: Audio settings UP UP UP. Pray nothing triggers a sound while you're playing :)

I use a USB headset and route voice chat through that, while I route all game sounds through my computer speakers.
That's the absolute best solution, in my opinion.
