That is a really bad "First Impression" considering it'll also be the last impression.

Since when are Elves Faster with Resistance to Enhancements.

they have Resistance to Enhancements, but they are not faster. rangers are really fast though.

They have a resistance to Enchantments (As in the Spell School) not Enhancements. Totally different things. And no, Ranger's by default are not faster.

Combat system...

Main reason I have come back several times is just the at. It is iterative, it feels more like you control the combat instead of just controlling moves during combat.

The spell system is also much better, with spells being unique and different for levels instead of getting "force bolt" at lvl 1 and increasing it each level.

Pretty sure when he said faster he was referring to the dex bonus elves get. Higher dexterity can be described as faster reflexes and such. Poor word choice but probably was going more for flavor than technical stuff. The resistance was probably in reference to the bonus on saves vs enchantment spells and effects.

I've never played baseball but I will get a whiffle ball and bat and hit it around my yard a few times and come back and tell what I think of baseball.

I play for the great combat system and the healthy degree of flexibility of builds possible within each class in the game. Variety is the spice of life - and it's kept me amused for going on six years now. Ripper X should keep playing and keep learning... it's a good investment of time and entertainment.

As for the video - I'll take the advice of Thumper's papa.

is turbine recieving for directing traffic to some latecomers site?. seems its againt forums rule to post outside links if i remember right.

1.must be a slow day
2.personally who cares about some reviewers first impressions, he gets paid for it.
3.[I didn't like the video that much]

"O look I already made a friend , Hello" roflol omg sound like he's talking to the G~man through his mic lol

The PVP thing was over the top , and I understand the video was a first impression clip, but it was not much than a good giggle for me.

~As for me though,the reasons I like DDO~

I don't no any other game that lets me kill Kobolds in real time.

As a AD&D table top player (back in the day) to see things with your eyes is just mind blowing still after almost 3 years. It beats sitting around a table with stacks of books, Minies and dice ,Paper notebooks, soda cans and ashtrays covering the dining room table and floor with 6~8 friends or friends of friends mix.Dont get me wrong (Great times, Great times) I wouldnt change a thing , but seeing it with your eyes, and hanging out with friends in real time = Nothing can Top DDO

Do yourselves a favor. Never link to MMORPG again. I occasionally visit that site to find an upcoming MMO, but otherwise the information on it is vastly out of date and flat out inaccurate when it isn't out of date. Also anyone sensible isn't going to just watch the video. They will also read the comments. And I'd have to say some of those comments, which I don't think I'll quote here because I don't need the moderators breathing down my neck, aren't exactly flattering about Turbine and DDO.

I was going to watch the video, but it crashed my laptop, twice.

That website is now redirected to localhost.

That video represents about 15mins to 30mins of gameplay.

Very very much first impressions. Glad he seems to like it. Not really a real look though.

Mmmm, kind of funny. He really does NOT capture what DDO is about... I... Uhh, really? Just no. No. To much to rant about.

Other MMOs have such boring drama though. The drama on these forums tends to be a lot livelier and far more worth reading. :D

What I learned:

WF are a Class.
Elves have a resistance to enhancements.
DDO has a helpful path system which allow you to learn the ropes of character creation.
Trainers take you into quests.
There are global PvP arenas.

Oh I forgot to answer this one! I love to play DDO because it lets me see what would happen if Sony's PSN team tried to make an MMO.

No videos on that site work for me.

Nm, had to disable ad block.

Right at the start he dosent know the difference between a race and a class...

FlyingTurtle

I thought with the racial weapons and the elven arcanum things, Elves are no longer as resistant to enhancements as they used to be.

O_O

Wow.

How can we politely tell him DDO is about as close to D&D as Monopoly is to Donald Trump?
