Well today I made my first monk and I'm really confused on how some of the things are done on this class..
How do I use the finishes??
For example..if I wanted that fire finish do I have to hit a monster with fire purity I 3 times before using the finish??
Also I've seen other people being able to heal them selves by meditating what lv is that available?
Thanks.

To use the finishing moves go to Feats Tab of your Character Sheet and drag the icon that appears as a Fist with a Red background labeled "Finishing Moves" to a hotbar. After any 3 move attack chain (Fire Fire Fire for example) you will c the Red Finishing Move Icon change to indicate the finisher is ready and your monk will crackle with electricity. If you have the ki you can use the finisher then. If you don't have the ki atm you can "Hold" the finisher until you gain the ki by meditating, smacking something with your fists, sneak mode (if FoD) etc. You can "Hold" the finisher "Indefinitely" or until 1 of the following occurs.
These things will cause you to lose your finisher.
1. equip/un-equip gear
2. interact with a lever, door, valve or w/e in environment
3. logout
4. die
5. open a trade window
6. catch a hold of a ledge
7. pull yourself up onto a short ledge like in coal chamber
Wholeness of Body is a feat all monks get at Level 7 and it allows you to use 10 ki to heal yourself over time. It can be interrupted if you stand up in the middle of it or get hit in combat

Hey there pleistocene!
Thats right. 3 valid ki attacks (with no prohibid "moves" betwin them) to activate the finishing move. If you want the fire finishing move, you will have to make 3 fire ki attacks in order to make the finishing move avaible. Take a look at this guide in DDO Wiki http://ddowiki.com/page/Finishing_Moves .
The ability to heal is called Wholeness of Body (http://ddowiki.com/page/Wholeness_of_Body). You will get it at monk level 7th.

You can use any of the elemental finishers (firex3, earthx3, etc) at lvl 1
Finishers that involve Fist of Light (FoL) or Fist of Darkness (FoD) require lvl 3 (which is when you pick light path and get FoL or dark path and get FoD)
Finishers that involve Void strike (Void Light Void or Void Dark Void) require monk lvl 10.
Not sure where 16 comes from unless the "zero" in 10 looked like a 6 due to video graphics or glue sniffing lol jk...
Hope this helps... :)
