Isn't the point of overrun that its irresistable? Or are you just talking about how long it takes to get back up again?

I think the point of the over-runs is simply to be annoying :)
Trips, over-runs, etc . . . balance should affect, not just getting back up. I'm sure it's not the PnP rules but those have been flushed down the toilet long ago.

Only because the Demon Queen loves to jump on my head and repeatedly do sick amounts of damage to me whilst I lay there helpless, cursing.

I agree it seems to be what the balance skill should do.
Currently arn't those Str or Dex vs DC checks? Pretty sure it is for trip.
I think the thought is you can either brace yourself and try to use your own str to resist the knock down, or you can try to use your dexterity to take the blow (or trip) correctly and stay on your feet.

Not really
If something twice your size came rolling over you will be flat on your face even if you can stand on the tip of your pinkie toe while juggling chain saws.
I just want them to fix the issue of getting over run when you try to jump over her. THAT makes no sense

Have healer, will travel
My vote would go for: Str check or dex check to resist, balance for getting back up faster.

Isn't that how it is currently? Or is Overrun special? I know that's how Trip works.

I disagree. Overrun means that something really big and strong ran over you. You didn't dodge and avoid, so now you are lying flat on the ground. Balance never enters the equation.

Have you ever successfully avoided a tackle from somebody stronger that you?

Overrun can be avoided, at least in pnp so obviously the DQ has Improved Overrun feat. Balance is nayway not logical to give resistance to the check for falling prone.

Yeah, probably should.
As for anyone arguing that it shouldn't because of the idea of the real life application of balance...if we want to use real-life applications, wouldn't tumble reduce the amount of time you spend knocked down, and balance would work to prevent you from being knocked down?
I'm all for realism, but whatever system you use, realistic or unrealistic, implement it all the way.

If you have enough strength (I want to say 65), then you are immune to overrun.

So we have the chance to either fend/stiff arm or step/juke the enemy tirying to steam roll us?
as for me yep ive avoided being tackled countless times successfully, that is by other humans.
when it was animals I mostly dodged being trampled/gored, so I dont know, can fend off a strong man, but a horse or cattle you dont use str only get the hell out the way!!

As far as Overrun goes..
1:You shouldn't be overrun unless the enemy is moving towards you.
2:You should be allowed a balance check if overran no more than one time in a row*Being tossed around like a hacky sack isn't a situation where you get a realistic balance check*.
3:DC should be size related, saves should be reflex related.
