First time working with planner. I have this toon on Arrgonessen. He is level 8 so far. I have planned him up to level 12. Anything I can do to make him better? I took all the basic feats and Kensi enhancements. I am still working on some equipment. He is usually near the top of the kills list, but if he grabs alot of aggro he still gets hurt alot! The only weakness i see is AC which is 30-32 self-buffed at level 8. Should I give up on AC yet? Any improvement you see?

Be honest and tell me like it is please.

No help here?

I'd maybe start 18 strength, take the points from int, wise and con. Not too different from my fighters build except I skipped khopesh (I know BLASPHEMY!) and went with a longsword. Overall good though.

And unless you find +2 tomes of int, wis, cha on a quest, I wouldn't spend your TP's on them for a fighter, just my opinion. I bought dex, con and str for mine, those are all keepers.

Some people say oversized twf is an underpowered feat, but for a pure human fighter we have lots of feats and I very much like having it on mine to dual wield longswords with less to hit penalty.

If you use your "normal" feats on fighter-bonus-selectible feats you will find that as you get higher level- you start running out of worth while bonus feats to pick. That's why a lot of fighters take all of their normal feats as Toughness or some such, and leave the required feats (TWF chain, WF and WS chains) as their bonus feats.

Fighters have a TON of feats, always made me think that being a Human fighter (humans only real big benefit being the bonus feat imo) kinda moot.

Unfortunately, the main thing you could've done to improve this build is start base STR 18; but if you're already lvl 8 or higher, too late to fix that without LRing.

Beyond that, the only tweak I can suggest is bump GWF back to lvl 10 so you can bump up ITWF to lvl 8 and Imp Crit to lvl 9...oh wait, you're already lvl 8, so never mind.

It would also help if you posted your whole build rather than stopping halfway. Is there anything besides DPS you want out of your char?

EDIT: and for future reference, the best time to ask for build advice is before you start your char, not when you're halfway thru leveling it. :)

oh yeah... and the Healing amp from APs, and the extra damage boost you can get from Human Versatility (with a Kensai, popping Haste Boost, Damage Boost, and Power Surge all at the same time /really/ adds up, even if the damage is only tier 1) the +1 Str over everything but a Half-Orc, and +1 Con over everything but a Dwarf or Warforged. on my own Human Fighter i have about 700 HPs (still working on my Madstones and Exceptional Con items) he is excellent at staying on his feet, and doing great DPS; personally i think Human is one of the most solid choices for a Fighter, especially a Kensai.

but besides this, they make very great points; my own Fighter has all 'normal' feats in Toughness but one (his Human bonus, which is Khopesh). this can sometimes stop you from getting useful things for a level or two, but is most surely worth it. i did not take quick draw though, but did take OTWF (i wanted to be able to hit Epic monsters easily, with no Hold. not sure why, just did)

this exact build was my first char and i still have him as a lvl 20. you are on the right track here. to answer your question ac and dps are hard to combine. its kind of one or the other. i specced my fighter to go between stalwart and kensai just depending on what i was doing. With stalwart i could get my ac up to where no mobs even amrath could hit me. slow killer but hey never took any damage. Kensai just kills way faster but you are gonna get shredded thru after gianthold. Lots of hp helps for that

what renegade said about popping power surge, hv damage and haste boost is a beautiful thing especially with power attack on and improved critical with +1 to crit range with kensai 3. Lots of catastrophic crit damage. quickdraw is an essential feat imo for this. In a long fight without quickdraw the action of these takes to long and you just stand there getting beat on. quickdraw halves the time of this.

i disagree with eulogy on the feats thing. actually needed more. toughness is always a useful feat and things like spring attack which is great for moving cirles around mobs and beating on the while they try to hit you requires taking some crappy feats like mobility. i took heavy repeating crossbows with rapid reload just for kicks and with a good bow and good bolts you can really loosen up a mob before they get to you. probablly wouldnt suggest this but for flavor was fun.

one thing here i see is an issue is the low intim. for me its the single best skill a fighter can have except maybe balance. it really helps keep mobs of the squishys in your party as well as keep npcs you need to keep alive in quests from getting trashed. also helps hirelings stay alive which can be a chore sometimes. since you have 4 skill points you can catch that up relatively quickly and get it to about 50 with some items and be good to go on all trash mobs and most bosses.

good luck and have fun playing.

Thank you all for your insights. I am now level 12 and suppressing my level until 14. I found that a shield clicky and better fortification has helped my charcter. I will take another toughness when I can. Oh yeah, I bought the Supreme Tome at half price when they were on sale so they were pretty cheap:)

Thanks agian,
