View Full Version : Elven 32pt Ranger/Rogue -- AA or Tempest?

I have an elven Ranger 5/Rogue 1 that I have enjoyed playing, but is only a 28pt build and is a bit "non-optimal".

I now have access to 32pt builds and acquired a GHoW with the intent to GR with a better focus, either on TWF/Tempest or Arcane Archer (or blend). I envision a Ranger 18/Rogue 2 based on what I know so far, but don't know how best to factor in the Elven abilities, etc.

My style is primarily solo, but end-game isn't necessarily a requirement here. She has solo'd just fine so far, but want to make sure she can go much farther. I typically use a pocket cleric or FvS.

She also has +2 Supreme Tome in the bank waiting to max abilities at level 7. A +1 SA tome was already applied (yes, I've blown lots of TP's on my characters). Re-rolling is not an option -- my playing time is limited, so I like to compensate with shortcuts (i.e. tomes, etc).

There must be a build already that comes close to these requirements, but I haven't found anything yet (so many posts, so little time to research...)

Any help in directing me towards such a build would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Tempest III Exploiter. 1 ROG / 1 MNK / 18 RNG. Forget Arcane Archer. The build is pretty gear dependent (search the forums for the Exploiter thread), but, once equipped, dominates (or comes close enough to it) the melee solo territory.

Thanks, that one looks pretty good. Long thread, though. I'm guessing the 18/1/1 is still viable even with U9?

Are rapiers still the way to go, or scimitars with the elf?

Rapiers. Or Khopeshes, if you can afford the feat.

I myself still prefer the 18/1/1 being Ranger/Fighter/Rogue just so I can have access to other martial weapons and heavy armor when I'm in a non-evasion environment.

I've drawn up a version of the "Exploiter" build for my Elven character to use in a Greater Reincarnation.

She will likely use rapiers at first, then scimitars after IC-Slashing and Valenar enhancements.

There is lots of flexibility in enhancements outside of the Tempest/Dex/Valenar items -- I selected ones that I think will be the most useful.

The +3 tomes are wishful thinking, but would help at some point.

I haven't figured out the max AC or HP yet, but they look fairly comparable to other Exploiter builds.

Just looking for fun solo play...
