Today, I logged onto Saraphima and immediately noticed her Bauble was not on her hotbar. I frantically searched her inventory, her bank, nothing. I had my BF look over her inventory. Nothing.
As a last measure, I went and clicked the "Buyback" tab at a vendor- what I found there shocked me.
Not only was my (always locked in) Bauble in the Buyback tab, so were three +3 Tomes.... Tomes which are always kept locked and in her bank. No chance of accidentally selling them.
I checked all of my other characters- Saraphima was the only one missing anything.
I have scans going right now and have changed my password. I'm glad that I was able to recover all the missing items, so I'm not terribly upset. I'm not sure if this was a hack or something Fubar'ed on Turbine's part.... I'd like to think it was all just some strange bank error, as I've got some really valuable stuff on other characters which was left intact.
I just wanted to warn all of you to check your stuff. And if this happens to you, please check the Buyback tab at a vendor.

Have you tried feces?
I don't know what is going on, but half a stack of mnemonic pots was gone from my barbarians inventory and I couldn't buy anything back. Got to check if +4 tomes are safe in my bank.

It sounds like someone hacked your account. Are you missing anything of value that wasn't BTC or BTA??? Check all your ingredient bags and such.

I find it more odd that it was just rare/sought after items than a random selection of gear. Makes it seem more like something malicious.

All are checked- nothing else is missing. Pallai's Bauble was taken off of her hotbar, but was in her inventory. I mean, I'm not about to publicize my inventory here, but I could have been wiped out much worse.

I have considered this. I do not like the thought of it, but I have considered it.
I'm just posting it here in case it wasn't. It was a terrible feeling to see that I might have lost those tomes and I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone else if it could be avoided.

Must have been a prank. If it was malicious, they could have just dragged the stuff off-window and destroyed it.
Now that you've changed your password, I suspect your troubles are over, assuming your new password isn't something og like pallairules or abc123

That's probably what happened, hon. When things are destroyed, they're sent to the buyback window for 24 hours.

Hardly supportive or helpful, honestly. While yes, giving out your password opens you up to strange things happening, that doesn't mean she deserved to have her account hacked. Please take your attitude elsewhere.

nevermind misunderstood
A good friend just had his account hacked 2 days ago, and after seeing this I have to wonder what might be going on? He had scales/scrolls/ plat taken, not sure about tomes in the bank, I'll have to ask about that.
If I might suggest to all reading this thread -- change your password frequently....why not do it right now? It only takes a minute, and could save you alot of headaches.

And keep a trash password for logging in to websites that you think might be slightly less professional or responsible with your data than Turbine. If your password for your email is the same as your password to DDO is the same as your password to facebook is the same as your password to that porn site that you won't admit to, then you might want to change the email, DDO and facebook passwords.
(Note: NOT saying that this is what happened to Phalaeo. Just general password advice for people who use the internet and go to a variety of websites.)

I found the fb one humorous, and I had no involvement with her. However I think it was the Lord of Blades taking revenger on her abusing a certain belt against a WF FvS.

The game auto vendored those tomes because they are for front line fighters only.

I seem to have lost items too, but nothing too valuable. Strange thing is they just disappeared, wasn't even in the buyback tab.

When you log into the " My account " page, you'll see a display with your game subscription for each Turbine game ( DDO, LoTRO, ect ) tied to that account.
That display box will contain a " change forum password " link where you can change your forum password. But there will also be a " change password " tab at the top of the page itself. Changing the password there changes the password for your account and game log in.
Hope that helps clear any confusion :).

A general notice about passwords to help prevent hacking there is a couple simple steps that anyone can use to help make their passwords much more secure and that is using multiple character sets. for example abc123 only uses two character sets lowercase letters and numbers not a strong password. Now a password like L]=loS(Kz.OdGk\ that is an extremely hard to crack password. The best passwords are over 8 characters in length and combine all four character sets available lower case upper case letters numbers and symbols things like %#^^& and also please for the love of all that is divine on Eberron stop using words as passwords there are programs that literally take under a minute to crack those passwords!

It's too bad you can't use accented letters in addition to numbers and symbols, such as é, et cetera.

I lost my Planar Gird, not valuable at all but i looted it, put it in my INV and locked it, then when i went to drop it in the bank it was gone, checked shop just incase, nothing...... I know its not a huge loss as i just went back and got another one but ive noticed strange things too.
OH and i lost a whole load of stuff off my monk that i bought him, saving for higher levels and after sackng cipher i had 13 Tasty Hams and none of the high lvl gear i went in with, including +5 Flaming Burst Handwraps of Pure Good :( so be careful with those stupid orbs floating around i dont want to imagine what could be lost........

It always gets me when I hear advice like this. Sure it's good advice but do you know how many different usernames and passwords I have? Some of the programs that I use for work have up to 3 each and there are a lot of different programs. Short of keeping a book that has all my passwords in it or using similar ones across the board there is no way I am going to remember a load of passwords that look like I passed out on the keyboard.
